Chute size

Post by SWilliams »

Anyone with one of the earlier blowers that used a steel chute like a 368 or similar happen to know the diameter of the chute base? I'm thinking of changing the chute on the 451 over because the rocks and crud tear up the plastic chutes a lot. I know the 450, 451, 551 all use a 6" chute but don't have one of the earlier units around here to check.

Think maybe you mean a 364? i have one at my dads house. i wanna say its the same as the 450 451 etc.

This topic has been up front lately as i just brought in a 551 that had a busted chute and was selling it almost the same day.
So i did some reaserch on it and found the lower part for the 551 is still available and only around 30 bucks. And looked to me like it was a direct fit for the 450 and 451 also. I did however fail to completely see if it would work in place of the 450 chute. I soon spoke to Timmy D and he was dealing with the same issue. He told me he bought 2 of the 551 lower parts to test drive.
But for 30 bucks... if it gets trashed every 4 or 5 years no biggie just buy a new one!

The 551 bottom section is taller and the sides are deeper than the 450/451 but they will interchange. The tips are the same though, except the 450 and early 451s without the remote chute angle don't use the holes for the plastic and metal cable brackets..

The reason I'm planning on switching is that the rocks take them out with alarming frequency. The 368-101 is one of the large single stage units from Haban aka H-48
