Helping Hand Rear Carrier

Post by Clank »

I have a custom dump box, which is great for moving large amounts or bulky material.
I wanted something that I could mount to the tractor quickly for the odd heavy item, so here's what I came up with.
The tow hitch supports it, the axle stabilizes it, and a single bolt keeps it in place.
It's made of old 2x4s and plywood and I got a chance to try it out.
Works great! :)
Cheers,
Mike

Nice work!
I’m not sure who made them but I’ve had two of the same thing, steel frame and a Jackson mortar tub instead of the plywood… I guess great minds think alike!

Thanks! Yeah I think it should be pretty handy. Now and again I have something heavy to carry so hopefully this will save my back. :)

Reminds me of the rear carrier my grandad had for the ferguson. It mounted in a similar way, two wood beams under the axles and a flatbed that sat on the three point arms. The later version had a tool box and sides along with a spindle to put fence wire on. Handy thing to have in the days before side by sides and other toys on the farm.

For sure. And there have been a few times where I just needed to carry the odd heavy thing from one place to another, and this seemed like an easy solution. For the high volume loads, my custom dump box has been great, and I just picked up a dump tote from a Sears Suburban that I want to mount to the front, for even more payload capacity. I might have to start calling it the little mule! :)
