Chad I may be wrong ,but I looked that N over and it looked to me that the hood is stainless steel..

Sorry Denny, Chad has it right. The first 9Ns had cast aluminum hoods.

Very nice 8N with the V12. I would sure like to hear that one run. Do you know the manufacturer of the V12?

I'm pretty sure it was a Lincoln engine. I know they made a flathead V-12. I walked up to look at it just as he was getting ready leave an he had it idling. I tried to catch a video clip as he pulled away. If it amounts to anything I'll post it on youtube. I was hoping he would rev it up a little before he pulled away but he didn't.

I bet if you search youtube for V12 you will find all kinds of cool clips. I found some clips of a hot rod car with a Packard straight 8 that sounded pretty cool one time.

I did a search and saw either that tractor or one like it. It had a Lincoln V12, as you suggested. That was probably one of those where a picture does not really convey how nice it really is.

Todd thanks for fielding the answers to those questions as things are a bit strenuous at the moment. I didnt get to look at that V12 close but I assumed it was of some sort of ford design as it fit in there pretty slick. Did you talk to the guy at all? Wonder if he just took a funk stlye conversion and extended it accordingly or made his own up completly.

I didn't get to talk to him but I assumed he made most of the parts himself. I think I heard somewhere that someone is reproducing the funk bellhousing adapter so he may have used one of them. There sure seemed to be a lot of V8 conversions there that looked less cobbled than the original funk setup. The funk setup raised the hood and used an afterthought looking filler panel between the hood and the dash.

Since Ford and Lincoln were the same company and old Henry was pretty tight fisted, it would stand to reason that the ford and lincoln would have the same bellhousing pattern. I did hear him tell someone that he spliced two hoods together for the extra length.
