Anyway, here we GO!
Yes the blade is all the way up.
Right up to the windows, now that's a proper snowstorm!

Re: Winter Snow and Storm Pics
We have 2 inches of fresh sleet over here. This is some very hard packed stuff, standing on it I don't sink down at all. Until yesterday most all of the ground cover except for a few places in the woods was exposed. Last Friday I had the snow tires on the car removed thinking that this was the end of it all, why we even had the dandylions and crocus in bloom.
Now this I already know that it is worthless in my drive with the ag tires back on and I'm not even going to try.
Also last Friday I took the Winter tires and chains off the 102. The driveway was in real bad shape and I graded and leveled it Friday and Saturday. This came out really nice as conditions were perfect, not to muddy, not too dry, just right. I regret not having taken some before and after shots, I was really pleased with the way that turned out. Afterward I parked it by the house thinking that putting the deck back on the 126 was going to be my next move. Now this I already know that it is worthless in my drive with the ag tires back on and I'm not even going to try.

I'm hoping that it's a slow melt Dave. If it gets into the fifties this weekend like their sayin I'm gonna wind up with this all over again.
Actually with the kids long gone we really don't need this big house anymore and that's exactly what I have been thinking for some time now.-

Was going to take the snow tires off the truck Saturday, now guess I'll wait for July 4th.

Re: Winter Snow and Storm Pics
After I posted yesterday I went for a walk and found our new brook! I walk about 1/2 mile Into the woods behind my shop and found a 1/4 acre puddle as the source. I’m going to add some drainage in the form of a swale and repair a clogged/broken drainage pipe. Right now my trailer is parked on top of wash out that looks a lot like kens driveway. I’ll need a load or two of stone too....

Re: Winter Snow and Storm Pics
One thing's for sure I don't want hear any of that chatter about lack of water this Summer
Joe, note the date stamp, that shot was from last year right about the same time and which I don't want to deal with again. I wound up messing my back up pretty good on that one and are getting about tired with all of that by now. Wife had to park at the bottom yesterday, what an uproar that turned into , she could not get up that with a snowmobile so what's the point?
The folks up the hill from us here about four years now listed last year. What's funny about this is we get people all the time stopping at the bottom of the drive using their GPS with their blue and white license plates looking for that country dream if you know what I mean.
They sit there at the bottom for fifteen minutes or so, turn around and go back the way they came.
Anyway, since there's a little dirt showing now I should be able to get to work this evening no problem. If I don't bend another $1600. spindle.
My snow plow guy never showed up and I understand his reasons why. Show me the grass already

Time to reactivate this thread
The first real snow of the season About 6 inches it was dense too. Has packed down a lot since last night.
Had a pretty knarly ride home last night with 18 wheelers spun out trying to go up hills on the Interstate. What was the first vehicle of the year I saw off in the ditch? Why a Jeep of course.
My plow guy was MIA and I had to get my kitty out of the vets so I broke out the 102 after sitting around for about a month. It touched right off and got the job done without a blip. That was just a test session

6” of heavy sleet !
149 and 1872 are warm and ready....
weird storm here 6” of snow over night not that fluffy stuff you get out west, heavy back braking stuff. Tv news compaired it to a 18” light snow. Then 2” of sleet, then ice above that! It’s going to be a tough afternoon, I’m waiting for it to end before I go out. 25 minutes away my buddy asked if I was going to plow, he didn’t need too! All rain!

Re: Winter Snow and Storm Pics
Who knows why but most of my snow removal has been with the blade fitted machine this year. The 126 was starting to gat an abandoned look about it just covered there and it was time to dig her out. I keep a trickle charger on it in the Winter time so it started right up. It pulled right out of all the heavy snow all around it without barking too much. I cleared it's parking spot and then some.
Snow banks were getting pretty close to the driveway and the blade was not having any of that so I nibbled them back five or ten feet or so.

Re: Winter Snow and Storm Pics
Old snow banks are one of the hardest things for a tractor. The other day I hand shoveled a small pile with a steel dirt spade and I thought I was going to break the handle. Good job.

What slid off the roof a while ago. Rather abruptly I may add- I don't know how much more of this happiness I can stand Did I mention it's 32 degrees and raining?

Re: Winter Snow and Storm Pics
Deep freeze here. Pushing all that slush aside Sunday was the right thing to do. This stuff has turned into concrete.
Someone ate my bologna sandwich Well, he needed it more than me.
The wild life has got to be having a hard time by about now. Yesterday about a half hour before going to work I packed a bag lunch and tossed it outside the kitchen entranceway on to the snow bank, when I headed back out for work by then something had jumped up and ripped open the bag- all that in under half hour and right by the door. The tracks had already been blown over by then but it was either a raccoon or a cat. Someone ate my bologna sandwich Well, he needed it more than me.

Re: Winter Snow and Storm Pics
Ah, we barely got a dusting... But Ken is always our "early warning" as to what's to come! My 1872 is ready with the Haban blade, weights and chains 365 days a year, so I'll be fine until January when I might need a blower. Usually when I'm done leaves I throw the blower on 2182-2 (2182-1 wears the loader 365 days a year...).

Re: Winter Snow and Storm Pics
Finally a proper snow storm. This was about seven inches of loose granular powder and would have thrown very nicely. But I went with the easy push instead.
I have never experienced a January mud season before but along came the thaw and the big drive turned into ruts over a foot deep.
I was not in the mood for taking pics at the time. But that was a bad one for sure and what was not repaired will have to do until Spring.
Pretty lucky that I did not break an axle working on that one but I did snap a lift rod end clean off.
I am quite sure somebody's tire will come along and find that eventually

Wow ken! I thought you had a blower on the 126? That helps make room. How much did you get? The dumb rain/snow line always kills our snow totals. Got about 6" last evening...then the rain and sleet started and lasted a good while. Idk...seems like we ended with 5" of the heavy stuff.

Looks like fun Ken, a blower would work out better. We ended up with 16" of nice powder, but I still had to plow 2 times to clean it up.

I didn't get to the chains before surgery, and conveniently the walk behinds would not start, but Mama got the driveways done!

Ken is probably still pushing! They said something like 45” up his way at one of the ski places! 12” here, the truck/Plow did good, only slid off the driveway once, my neighbor pulled me out. Of corse the 2 stroke blower wouldn’t start so I had to shovel/push the snow off my deck. Also have a 1606 for around the garage doors etc. it did great once the truck cleared the big stuff!

We got a whopping 1/2".....enough to glaze the roads with ice after being driven on. Had two knuckleheads in my yard........both missed trees by inches.

Re: Winter Snow and Storm Pics
Actually Joe, I just got done Sipping on some hot chocolate right now.
We had 25 here. There was no snow on the ground prior to this one. Go ten miles west and they had 31, another ten west they had 42 so this was just a dusting
For the last four years there was not much need for the thrower so it was perfectly reasonable to assume it would not be needed much this year either.
Right
Yeah, when you gotta push to get the door open that's a good one.
The engine on the 126 is pretty tired anyway and will get changed out when I have the time. The little 102 really towed the line this time around that's for sure. Too tired out for after pics, I'm all dug out and that's that.

Re: Winter Snow and Storm Pics
We got about 20 inches, all powder. No pictures because I was out at 3 am clearing it out so my wife had a place to park. Her job tossed everyone out early at midnight, Guess when the worst of the storm was BINGO. She normally can make it home in a bit over a half hour, but since nobody on the town, county or state could be bothered to get off their a$$es to run the plows nothing was touched from the minute the storm hit. She managed to follow a few other workers down into town and waited a couple hours there until the town sent a plow out our way, only problem was the plow turned off about halfway out. She finally made it home at 03:45. I cleared out a lot of it that morning, then did some more before the sun came up. Wanted it to stay light and powdery. Still have a couple places to clear out, but they didn't mark anything and tend to leave cords and such on the ground so I'll take the loader down and clear everything all at once. They can sort it out in the spring! Used 4 different walk behinds that morning just to be sure they were ready to go to new owners, Sold them all the next day. Then this morning had three others show up that "didn't run right" all got fuel systems drained and carbs cleaned. On was a Cub Cadet 45" They are basically a 551 blower on a chassis with dual wheels and 18 hp. Thing is a beast to run. Pulls good enough you could stick a dolly behind it and ride.
Owner of an 1863, 2263 (1863 W 22hp engine!) 2084 and a 2 - 2284s.
