I have been watching the news and yeah, you folks are really getting clobbered over there.
Hope that everyone is safe.
The issue for us this year is the never ceasing cold, here's just another typical morning

We got 20" yesterday and due for 5" more tomorrow, 36" down in a week. The township plow left a 5' high bank to nibble at.

Driveway is clear and we got an additional 5" this afternoon for a total of 41 in little over a week. Had to put the bank cutters on the 450 to take care of the township plow deposit. They sure do help nibbling on a tall snow bank.
I haven't posted a tractor shot clearing the driveway, so here is one of my 682 with mower deck. That's sunset behind my house.

Re: Winter Snow and Storm Pics
Ken - I'm sure you appreciate ice so much more than mud and loose stone! At least now you have a good hard surface for the chains to bite into.
How is the driveway now that you graded it and put down all that stone? Hopefully less mud than the past! Sounds like your going to get hammered up north, looks like we are dodging this one, may be less than 4" for us.

Re: Winter Snow and Storm Pics
Just wanted to share a trick that I think a lot of us hear about but maybe little of us (w stone driveways) use. Since the fall I have been keeping an eye out for just the right pipe for my loader bucket/snowplow. Finally found something on cl, 2-1/2" Poly pipe. The guy had about 50' so I gave him his full asking price $15.Lol. Slit the one side and stuck it on the cutting edge. Works good! I can tip the bucket down a little and not get many stones at all. Oh..... and just for the record, we receved about 3-4 inches from the storm that was suposed to dump 12-18 inches

Re: Winter Snow and Storm Pics
We landed about 7 inches of light powder so far. I had been expecting more than that, it looks as though the Boston area really got hammered. The stuff was a joy to push around compared to the grease like stuff dropped by the last two storms. I let the thrower sit where it was as the blade took care of things just fine.
Cold and wind were the factors here and I just looked outside and it's doing it again

Hey, it's snowing again !
My otherwise balky in cold waether 126 touched right off much to my delight, the secret I think is to keep the charger plugged in all the time.
We have about another ten inches with no end in sight, the temp here is five degrees.
Sorry for no action shots the Wife went off to work. This stuff throws nice and the piles are getting higher everywhere I can see

Re: Winter Snow and Storm Pics
I'm not quite sure just how long it snowed here but I think it was something like 56 hours nonstop.
Today was a good day to bust things open nicely. And I was able to get the main drive opened up all the way down to the road good and wide. I see that the ice dams are starting up again- same old thing every February My weapon of choice was the thrower and the poor little 102 wound up getting dumped on. The stuff tossed real nice. He ain't goin anywhere for a while anyhow And Holly is hibernating up on the trailer awaiting finer days. They say there's more coming this weekend
People around here are starting to get a bit tired of this by now.

Man u guys up there r hearty stock! If we get a couple inches.......they r on the news all day fussin over it. One of the best way to fix ice dams is better insulation and air sealing to stop the heat escaping. Thanks for the pics! Dave

Re: Winter Snow and Storm Pics
Hey, the SUN is out !
That made it time for pushing some more of this sky puke back
I'm using the did underneath, let it collapse, and dig again method here- it works pretty good !
This morning the temp was -3 but it was up to 15 or so by the time I went out. Yesterday while I was opening up the trail the winds were so high and the blowback was so bad there was a couple of times I thought the machine was moving (sliding downward) when I was actually standing still !

Re: Winter Snow and Storm Pics
Looks like I'm going to get some seat time tonight . The weatherman talking like were going to get anywhere from 8 to 12 inches . Looks like there's about 4 inches on the ground now , and its still coming down pretty good .
I'm going to use the 982 and 54" power angle blade in a bit and it should be able to handle that .
I now wish I had gotten the 42 inch blower ready this winter , because I've never used it since I purchased it about 4 years ago and we don't get many snows that require a blower here . I had it on a tractor the last two winters and nothing , go figure .
May take some pictures this evening if its not to dark .

Re: Winter Snow and Storm Pics
Well we got about 6 inches two night ago and then 3 more yesterday . Finally got the 982 to start after jumping it off my truck . It has a new battery but that didn't make much difference .
I've discovered over the years that hydro's are almost impossible to start without a booster or cables when the temperature drops below 20 degrees . I really need a heated garage....
The 54 " power angle blade did a good job , but really needs a paint job .
I did my driveway and two of my neighbors driveways .
It got down to -6 last night , and its supposed to get below zero again tonight .
I guess it could be a lot worse , I could be living near Boston ...
I'm ready for spring .

Re: Winter Snow and Storm Pics
Wow Jess
I mean isn't that really kind of abnormal weather for all you folks in Kentucky ?
I am Northwest of Boston and it was only down in to the single digits last night but all in all it has been bitterly cold going on over two months now.
But you do get accilmated to it all after a while. We got up to about twenty yesterday. The sun was out and since the change oil light on the car had been blinking for a week it seemed a good time to do an oil change on it. Well, that felt like a Spring day to me
Another inch fell today but really that's just a drop in the bucket at this point

Jess the 982 looks good! At first glance i thought u had a black Haban blade and it had snow stuck to it........then i realized....its a rusted IH blade w a little white paint .....stuck to it. I could not figure why u would mention "it needs a paint job" in the middle of a snow storm pic........but now i see why.lol Who cares, it worked right. U keep teasing us w that big IH dozer/loader in the edge of your pics. Dave

Re: Winter Snow and Storm Pics
Jess - Your cold and wind has made it to here, and I guess it will end up continuing north. Supposed to go below 0 tonight with 20 mph wind.
Been just a nuisance snow year for me. Three or four inches at a time, sometimes two, over and over. I don't mind the tractor time, or even a little shoveling, but I am real tired of cleaning off cars and then moving them to push the snow where they were sitting. With my steep drive I have to plow even an inch or I get a sheet of ice.
Hang in there, six more weeks and it will be April!

Aaaaarrrgggggg.......Weatherguessers are saying more snow this evening .
I think we need to swear out a warrant on that overgrown rat in Pa. that recently predicted 6 more weeks of winter or at least make a hunting season for him .
This is what temp I woke up to this morning , and make two days in a row for record low temps in our area .
I step out the back door just long enough to snap a picture ......Brrrrrrrr .
