This is getting old , just finished plowing about 5 " of wet stuff that fell last night . Was snowing early this morning and then it turned to rainy slush , really heavy stuff I got soaked , then it quit while I was plowing .
I figured its better get the new wet snow up before the temperatures drop and turn it into a frozen block of ice .

No sooner than I get done , its starting to snow again and is coming down pretty good . :x

Cal , Its to cold and wet to mess with the crawler , and by the way "Happy Birthday" .

Yesterday they were calling for a dusting to less than an inch for around here
Yeah OK, what's this then

Anyhow I got out there and cleaned it up. They are calling for a deep freeze here for the next couple of days, it's already the second coldest season on record for the region.
Only another nine inches needed to break the all time high snowfall for Boston so come on bring it on I want to see that

No pics but the 782 was out yesterday with the 42" HYDRO blade. Worst part of a cub blade is no down pressure. I really need to get my 3240 bladed up and try it out sometime.

I would really like to find a 353 blower for the 3K series...
Cub Cadet, John Deere, New Holland, bobcat, Chevrolet, and Harley Davidson just a few brands I'm proud to own.

Got 9-10" of fluffy stuff yesterday which would have been easy snowblowing, but it was followed by overnight freezing rain. The fluffy 9-10" got turned into 7-8" of wet nastiness.

Heavier than I really wanted to push with the 1872/Haban blade, but knew it would be tough going for a blower too. Started with the blower. And...I took a walk on the wild side and put the 450 on 2182-2 which has the large pto. This means I was spinning it about 30% faster than design if the engine governor is set correctly. Haven't checked it on this engine yet because the Kubota 3 cylinder is messing with my FastTach. Need to get another tach, just can't seem to get caught up. If anything, the engine sounds like it might be slightly under correct speed. Pics, then more story...

As you can see, the 450 handled the wet stuff real well with the extra rpm. How much extra I will get back with after I get a better tach. What the pics don't tell is that with the wet mess, it was tough going. So tough that the belt broke about 10 feet after that top shot. I have a good bit of time behind a 450 and I think the extra rpm helped with the heavy stuff. Unfortunately the ratio change also put more force on the belt. I should have my 551 ready for next year, so hopefully that will handle the wet stuff better.

So, broken belt leads to back up plan and my next post...

So, broken belt on 450. It was a Cub belt, stolen from the 551 so it had some time on it, might of contributed to failure (same as 451 belt for large pto). **(Changed belt info on edit, forgot I changed to the longer one with large pto.)**

Went for the next weapon in the arsenal. Dave G., this is what these look like when they escape from the Haban museum...

My photographer was getting bored, so didn't get some of the shots of me pushing snow clods the size of a kitchen range. The first trip down the drive was tough going, but fortunately downhill. Then had to do the cross country trip through the woods to my neighbors. Almost got stuck getting to the neighbors because it is uphill but just kept hammering it and adjusting just the right amount of plowing to get through. This shot is most of the way up his drive with the parking area behind me and the trip home is almost as long. Down in the field halfway to the street it always drifts deeper. It was originally nearly a foot deep down there, I think it was about 10" deep of wet nastiness when I blasted through. Almost got shut down there, but I made it to the street. After that, half blade passes made life easier.

The day wasn't done yet. Needed more wood for the hungry stove. Tough to keep adjusting the blade height of the Haban and not grab my turf, so I figured 2182-1 and the loader might as well join the day. For the small amount of clearing near the wood racks it was easier to put the bucket in float with the cutting edge tipped up. Cleared about half the height there and mashed the rest down driving on it. Late in the day, so had a bit of melting by now with the low 40* temps we had.

Ags did well at first, but as the mess got packed down it was losing traction. But by then it was in great shape for the 1872 to do the hauling. Can't beat turfs and chains...

I know that stupid shed shows up in half my shots, but it seems I spend a lot of my life between that shed, the wood racks and the house. Pics are big, sorry, just like the clarity for pretty snow shots.

Still coming down good , more pictures in the morning when its suppose to stop , and I go out to plow .

Yeah , I know it looks like the same pictures I took a couple of weeks ago .
Is it spring yet ??

Jess - Don't feel bad, I will have all the same pics again too! Weather guessers are calling for anywhere from 5"-10" for us, then down to 4*F tomorrow night. So tired of winter... :!:

Joe , I thought about that yesterday , but decided I would rather have the snow sitting on the seat than on top my battery , especially if I need to jump it to get it started .

It starts fine in warm weather but its a crap shoot when the temps get this cold , I don't start to good either when its cold , until my first cup of coffee . :coffee:
Luckily my seat isn't torn , so no wet butt ....LOL...I just take a towel out with me to wipe off the seat and I'm ready to go .

Well it was a long winter..We had 2-3" storms a couple times a week. No really big storms.
Our February was the coldest on record so we really didn't have much snow melt.
The loader did get a good workout this winter. Which made him happy.

Just took the last 4 inches of white grass off of the driveway. A nice soft snow, rolled right off the blade along with a bit of thawed gravel driveway. How many more months till we start this again?

Sorry guys not much to show on my end. I / we used the walk behind this storm....mostly cause I was not home for much of it and I don't dare let anyone drive the cubs. I would say we had around 20-24".... But for some reason most of my drive was more like 28-30" and my neighbors had like 10". I need to look into this little problem. Kinda wish I had some drift cutters...

dag - You have the premier Cub Cadet museum of snow equipment in your basement, and use a walk-behind! Shame, for shame! That stuff in your basement was meant to be used! Can we get some pics of your basement? Maybe spread some styrofoam peanuts around and pretend it's snow...

Sunday; Three shots of my neighbors drive that I do; I wish I had remembered my phone when I was blowing most of this on Saturday. By now the snow has already settled some, but on Saturday only the last several inches of the drift cutter was visible when I was widening this up. This field drifts pretty bad with most snows. The first pass Saturday was 24" right up to the top of the blower mouth. Had another 6" later that same day. (I have the shoes extended to clear any stones on the drive, cutting edge about 2-1/2" up.) Sunday was pretty much just a parade lap, only two inches or so of clean-up.

Tractor is about in middle of length of driveway, same place for all three pics (driveway continues into the woods on the left a bit)... Saturday was a long day...
