Thanks for the manual, I will read through it. Looks like there are a lot of things I can use to troubleshoot it with!

Jeff that is so cool! I did this today, trying to see how things are made. I guess i need to learn how to harden steel. This is just a bearing from a idler off an exmark.

You will NOT be turning hardened steel on the little Atlas. That requires an extremely rigid machine.

Hi Vince, that looks like a teaser cup for a 1050. I sure could use one. I picked up a 1050 po put in new clutch parts and a homeade pull rod with a big spring. He had it bound to the steering column pulling sideways and ground off a quarter inch of the trowout bearing and the teaser cup. Realease arm wore awful but i got it rewelded. I put a cast 3 speed in it, new TO bearing and some washers to make up for the ground up cup. The washers are a little big for my reweld arm and make some noise once in a while but it is working. Mike

I dont know what drive shaft this is, but it works with the command in the 482. I did buy a spacer from Mid West to go on the fly wheel.

Hey Vince, the teaser cup on a 1050 is a long one like your pic. A 582 is a short one. The drive shaft on a 1050 is a long one. I think that motor mount system for a 1050 is a little farther forward, which makes use of a long teaser cup. Mike
PS i posted this before i saw your message. I'll see if i can come up with a length, since the small part was ground away. I bought a 582 TO bearing from Zack Kerber, his doesn't have a grease fitting. Thanks Mike

A 1050 is a bit odd, only made one year 1989. If you look at parts skems for 582 & 1050 you can see the difference. The alum trans in them is known for stripping gears. This one had bad clutch and stripped gears, but had a good 2 piece fine spline carrier and axels. Will help with rebuild costs. Mike :)

I see a satin chrome dial. That would indicate one of two things
it is a replacement part or,
it was made in 1959 or later

I'm thinking about pickin me up a lathe. I don't have no thousand dollars to spend right now but I do have like 350. Is there a lathe I can get that is small but does a fine job and is quality built.. I just want to try one and see what I can break
