The PO had used patio walk stones as a chimney cap. Burning the fireplaces last year I found sometimes they wouldn't draw right and even get smoke into the basement fireplace when I had a fire upstairs. After a little research, I found the cap was too close to the flue for a good draw.
So I found some bricks and Andy went up to raise the caps a little.

Five flues in the chimney?
The center is the fireplace in the living room, far right is the basement fireplace, next to that is capped, to the left of center is open to the attic (why?) and far left I have no idea.
Any clues? I figured maybe one for a spare, future boiler or furnace. There is an ash clean out in the living room that dumps into a door next to the basement fireplace. Would that have a separate chimney for smoke from hot ash?
