BINGO! I look at a couple FB sites and cringe at some of the replies to questions, far more "how I did it" than "how it should be done (correctly)". I have recognized several reputable people trying to help people, to just get bashed "all you need to do is..." "it worked for me", even argue about production years, specifications, etc.ReicheP wrote:If you want a correct answer to your question, you get it here. FB maybe not.
Too many people want instant gratification and aren't willing to do any homework, usually a few searches and I get answers here to my questions.
Keep up the good work,

Are we back on this again so what if it's slow.
Should I have a concern I'll get a timely response right here.
And sure there are other Forums to go to, let's see - should I choose the off tangent chatter one or the same four guys every day one ?

Re: Why is this website so dead???
Facebook is a drug for some people . But I get tired of all the Political banter and Obama bashing I see on it . I've had to unfollow a couple of people because of all the Political rhetoric that usually ends up being half a page .
Twitter , No way , I spend to much time on a computer as it is now and I have nothing to tweet about anyway . I lead a rather boring life ....
I do text on occasion .
I agree that the advice here is better than what I see on the facebook sites and I try and help members here when I KNOW the answer or fix . If I don't know the answer , then I keep my mouth shut.
I just feel sometimes I post to much and wish some of the lurkers would post more , even if they don't do anything more than walk out to the garage and take a picture and post : Here's a picture of my cub and whatever attachments they have for it .
My favorite posts are the , Look what followed me home , You can almost hear the pride the poster has when he's found a new toy or project .
I also like the snow removal posts , especially action shots when a snowblowers involved . That's probably because we usually don't get enough snow down here that requires more than a snowblade .

I see a lot of cub cadets while going down the tracks , its a shame I can't pull over and ask about them .

Re: Why is this website so dead???
Well, I don't know that I have anything to say....other than I started with a new company the Monday after I picked up some new to me toys from Jess and have been on overlapping 14 hour shifts 7 days a week until last Friday. So right now I may have a couple nights that I can check in before collapsing, will be on six 10's for a while. Was glad to see the guys that have made this site what it is are hanging in with it.
Jess , my boys helped at Thanksgiving and we got them tucked into my storage trailer before the deep snow came. I'm loving the paychecks but wondering when I will get to play in the garage again.

Re: Why is this website so dead???
Bryan - I just re-read the whole thread just for kicks, and it is actually a good wandering discussion. So, I didn't mean delete it or anything, I'm just kind of done with the "Why are we so dead?" thing in my mind. The thread is over a year old, I don't think we are going to get any more revelations to the mystery.
Some people moved on. Some now prefer Facebook. I get it, it's all good. This a hobby and people should do what makes them happy.
A core group of us has stayed and continues to post, along with some new members we continue to get. This looks to be the new norm and we are still kicking along. I just don't feel the doom and gloom the title of the thread portrays. I would prefer to see posts of members doing interesting things rather than revisiting this topic repeatedly.

Re: Why is this website so dead???
I joined Cub Cadet Collectors in 2013.I just now started taking advantage of it.For one thing i just fond my password
So i would call myself a new member.
I have been spending my time at another tractor forum for 7 or 8 years that has a lot more traffic.
But i have had faster answers to my questions and more help here
More is not better.
Like it or not I'm not going anywhere

And it's perfectly fine to veer off on a topic a bit here without the fear of being publicily chastized by a moderator if you do.
And we have Vince posting again

Re: Why is this website so dead???
Vince,
The 90 degree prism shaped ways of the older South Bend lathes were prone to wear. From the factory the ways came flame hardened and that hard skin was only about .010 or so deep.
If the ways are reground the material below that skin is dead soft and while they will be good for a while they will wear out again very fast with a lot of use.
I don't think of regrinding them as a good investment.
