Middletown Ohio PD

Post by Jlaws »

A bunch of us got together today and had a mini plowday . Cal Woodrey was the guy that put it together .
The field was very dry , hadn't been plow in a while if ever and had its fair share of rocks both big and small . I thought I was plowing in Penn . for a while.....
Those in attendance were Cal and Chris Woodrey , A.J . Gross , Aaron Gonya , Dale Merkle , Rick and Noah Harris , Adrian Gitch , and myself .

Here's "Cal's Cub Towing Service" at work. Poor Jess had a bolt break on the plow and after replacing that his rear end decided to call it quits. I'm suprised more of us didn't have something break. That ground was like cement.

Just wanted to jump in and say thanks to AJ, Adrian, Dale, AW, Jess, Rick and Noah Harris and Chris Woodrey for coming out to play in the dirt. I wish conditions could have been better but the gathering of friends made it all worth it.

If we get the rain the weather guessers are predicting for this week Chris and I will probably be plowing next weekend with a IH 2 bottom trip plow behind a Ford 4600! If I get a chance to finish my 127 I might take it out for a few rounds too.

Thanks again guys.

I took my camera along so I could get a few pictures, the weather was much better than we had for the northern Ohio PD earlier this month!

Bigs THANKS to CAl and Chris Woodry for putting on the plow day. I had a great time. I've been to 5 different plow days this year so far. One had the ground too hard you couldn't get the plow in the ground. One was rained out. Cal's and Chris's plow day a good challenge because of the dry soil condiations. My 149 had a bad case of turning to the right. Sticking my leg out to the right would turn my 149 to the left. Turn brakes would have been nice. The dual made the problem worse. Both tractors had a bad case of the front wheels in the air.

I'd also like to thank Cal and Chris for putting this plowday together . I also spent part of the day with the front wheels in the air . Thats with loaded front tires and about 35 lbs of weight on the front . Boy that ground was hard ...

I also came away with a momento from this plowday .
I guess I was lucky , I thought I broke a carrier or spider gear , The external brakes is the only thing that was keeping the axle in while we towed it back to the trailer .
I'm now in the market for a 82 series coarse spline axle , who says them 20 hp Onan don't have torque . ;)

Jess-

Put in a fine-spline setup from an aluminum rear and you'll probably never have that happen again. It seems the 982s are pretty hard on coarse-spline axles.

Matt thats a lot of work and expense for a plower . I know the fine splines are supposed to be stouter .
Now if I was going to make it a puller and do that on a weekly basis I would .
I'm just going to get another coarse spline axle , new axle seal , some hytran and call it done .
I don't own a fine spline axle transmission , and I just happen to have a external brake 128 rearend that has a bad slider gear in it for a axle donor .
When I sheared off one of the two 1/2 bolts that connects the 12" plow share to the beam , that should have told me to quit .

That rock does kind of look like an old moldboard that has fossilized. Maybe Cal has plowed there before a long time ago.

Adrian,
I don't care who you are, that's funny

Cal,
Maybe just a little.

Wow, typing on Vicidan is etremly dificult eckstreamley dfflct stremly difffecult .....hard.....
I had a tooff pulled last night that had broken off, the root went into my sinus area and they used a big freakin hammer on it.
That, is an odd sensation. I know the hammer wasn't that big but it felt like a 20 pounder.

Howard, stop by anytime! Just not when I'm late for a dentist appointment!
First time I've seen Howard Demko for months. He shows up and I tell him I gotta go.
