Kenneth,
Got to love the engineering on that but I sure hope he has the engines tied together tight or that manifold won't be long for this world.
Cool stuff!

Worked on the shop this weekend. You lay one thing where it shouldn't be and pretty soon it has company.
Next thing you know your putting things in places where you won't have to step over them (all the time anyhow).
I got to that point.....
I used the bookcases I tore out of the basement when we carpeted.
Way more storage.

Dave Chester,
I think I'm gonna be pretty close to you for a couple days (I mean how big is Connecticut?).
I'm doing a little work at Loomis Chaffee and will be heading out to Windsor, CT tomorrow.

I'll be staying at the Hampton Inn.

I just got back from Connecticut.
Joe got hold of me and arranged a meet at "the Farm" in Colchester.

He and Dave showed me the grounds, all the old equipment, the sawmill and all kinda other cool stuff.
Whatta place! Parts galore, tools. I gotta hand it to those guys that they still have all of their appendages seeing the lathe and other stuff they use in the shop.

After the tour we meet up with Engine Mike at a Texas Roadhouse back towards my hotel (he couldn't get out early, he has to work for a living or something like that).
Had a great meal, good company and lots of bs.
I don't know if Joe got a picture of our waitress's name tag or not but
Bunny
FooFoo
The FooFoo was an add on by her to see if folks would sing to her..... Mike did. Kinda scary.

I want to thank the guys for taking the time to make me feel at home. I had a great time.

Strike another blow from corporate America :x
While I'm not a huge follower of John Deere machines I have to be the first to face the fact that I live in green territory, and that's that.
There's a dealership about seven miles from me and I have used them in the past for Kohler engine parts, paint, and stuff like that quite a few times.
These folks are a family owned operation and have been in business for 84 years.
Last Saturday at 4:15PM Two guys in suits walked into the door. They were company Managers. Call it downsizing, call it lean, call it whatever you like- they canceled RN Johnson's contract on the spot. They came with trucks and drivers and they started pulling the larger machines off the lot on the right away.
Twenty people worked there and six went home that afternoon without a job.
There are now three remaining family run John Deere dealerships in the country.
84 years of service to the community and POOF! you are all done in a flash! All in the name of profit- WHO'S PROFIT??
The family vows to continue operating their Museum, and provide service and parts but really that ain't gonna last.
I drove by there yesterday just for a look and see and that yard looks like a graveyard without markers, brother what a shame it is

Ken

First off I run that coil and never had a problem out of it. I cant tell the differance between it and the stock one, but I havent tried to lick it while its running, so Ill take peoples word for it.

As far as deere goes, I think they want you to have mutable dealerships. They want you to stock everything from the 300 series up, so Ive heard threw the kudzu vine. This said its going to drive many small dealers out. Ive heard more people bad mouth dealers, but I think its the corp twisting arms that makes it hard for the smaller guys that may only have 1 or 2 locations.

If you ask me, its all drivin by the allmighty dollar. While I understand the need for growth and rising prices globaly, at some point it all has to come crashing down, again. I think this will happen one more time here in a few years. I just dont think weve hit rock bottom, even though I feel like anyday now some one could lift the rock off me !!!!!!!!!

Just a sad note about a Tired Iron museum owned by a individual in Cuylerville, NY who is selling out and having a Online Only Auction. That place has been there as long as I can remember and is going to be missed, oh well time marches on. They have a you tube tour of the place at their auction page.

Picked up a new cub hauling trailer yesterday. Anybody close enough to Lebanon, TN and looking for a trailer I highly recommend B.J.'s Trailers (http://www.bjtrailers.com). Very friendly, easy to deal with, competitively priced, and you can get just about anything done to one you want. This one has tandem 3500# axles, LED lights, spare, brakes on both axles, and the 2 gates. And it pulls great. Now to see how many cubs will fit.

Matt , nice !!!

I like the fact that you probably paid a little more for brakes on both axles .
My 18 ft. tandum cub trailer ( which also has 3500 lb. axles ) was originally a pull behind RV trailer , before i converted it to a car hauler type trailer .
But it has brakes on both axles , and when loaded with 3 cubs with weights and plows for PD , I can still stop my truck quicker than than I could without a trailer on the truck .
It really plants your nose against the windshield ....

I've talked to a buddy who's got a single axle brake on a tandum axle Gatormade trailer and he's expressed dissapointment in the stopping ability of the single axle brake .
I see a lot of cub cadets while going down the tracks , its a shame I can't pull over and ask about them .

Thanks Jess.

That's what I was afraid of on this one. And the extra brakes were only like $100. On the road I always feel its a better-safe-than-sorry thing. There's no reason to take chances with that much weight The cost savings isn't worth tearing something up or getting someone hurt.

I actually got the chance to try those brakes out coming home with it yesterday. Guy in front of me in a van with no brake lights shut it down hard. I was expecting a push from the trailer, but the double brakes and the Tekonsha controller kicked in great.

I've been talking with Dave Gibson (dag1450) and we have been trying to think of ways to get more participation here. Our forum's history with the "Continuous Thread" format goes way back and was popular for just random whatever your doing now things.

This particular thread has been idle for awhile. As this is the Coffee Shop, anything (unoffensive) goes. We seem to still get lots of views, but not enough posts. I'm sure many of us check back because we are part of the Cub thing, but maybe you are working on something else right now. Post it here. Or make your own topic if it you want, no pressure.

Cub related or not, show us something interesting! Other tractors, home projects, other hobbies, etc. Cub specific? Maybe pick the appropriate Cub forum unless you prefer here. This is a good place for things that are neither IH or CCC specific. Paint. Welding. Cool tools. Mistakes you are willing to share and let us enjoy (I mean learn from... ).

So, perhaps this can be a "You show me yours, I'll show you mine" place. A whole project or just "What I did with my Cub today". Just one post with a pic, or a bunch of posts and pictures. Cub related or not, let us know what your doing.

Well with Paul's forecast .........I decided I better get the "bigger" guns ready for this storm! I know a plain loader bucket is not ideal but I just pretend it's a plow blade and it rolls out the sides.......eventually. Lol. I'm on the lookout for a cheap old 7' blade that I could pin on the front somehow. Someday!

Well...the wife asked for the kitchen backslash to be finished for her birthday. I had to say yes after ten years of not having it done.lol Using a tumbled marble in walnut color. I have most of it layed. I will update as I complete this week. Layout lines really keep things from running off bond as these r kinda rough. I back buttered each tile so I can stop and start easy......much cleaner not slopping glue everywhere.

Thanks Geezer. I have not done a lot of tile work.....a couple small bathroom projects and a few back splashes. I used to rent wet saws but my dad bought this for me when we did a project at his house. Works real good for easy money. This marble is hard stuff too. This is the job in the process of being sealed. This sealer is also called enhancer that really brings out the natural color of the stone. Grout will b next.....but I want to take the time to put together a couple sample boards so I can pick the right color grout.
