I tried to get the filter off my 125 but the PO must have had a gorilla tighten it down. I actually bent my oil wrench. I asked a friend if he had a heavy duty oil filter wrench and here's what I borrowed. It's coiled spring steel about .090 thick and when loosening the filter, it grabs the oil filter tighter the more pressure you use.




It worked great. Although I thought I was going to blow up (break ) my flex head 3/8" drive rachet.

This morning I went to sign my dogs up for welfare. At first the lady said,
"Dogs are not eligible to draw welfare." So I explained to her that my dogs
are mixed in color, unemployed, lazy, can't speak English and have no frigging
clue who their Daddys are. They expect me to feed them, provide them with
housing and medical care. So she looked in her policy book to see what it takes
to qualify. My dogs get their first checks Friday. Darn, this is a great country!

Took a trip to SE Lancaster Co Pa yesterday to see a mans private collection at his annual open house and saw a collection of some very rare and oddball engines and tractors. The one I liked the best was this pre Farmall Regular IH motor cultivator from the early 20's still in running original condition

Now if it only a realistic simulation no one will ever Know for sure until a real frog is used -- It may simply jump out of the way . Now if they are using real frogs to demonstrate the possibilities. different story--- Where is those people that were guarding the Monkeys being tested for space travel ???

Dave on his quote says "Common Laboratory frogs" I will get hit by that Asteroid , cause I'm common people.

The old Ford has been sitting in the garage for some time now. You know how it goes, inspection runs out, it's out of the way, next thing you know it's July.....

I ran it down the road the other day and got her inspected. It's good to be driving it again.
I have an electric brake control I have to install so I can use it to haul my trailer.
Not that I'm ever heavy and need the extra braking.........

"B" model Mack ? Remember your not as young and flexible as you once were, and shifting a "two stick" behind an ole Thermodyne won't be as easy as it was back in your dump truck jockey days......... Iffin' you want a Mack, find a LT and then you can arrive in "style"

You mean style doesn't include mangled fingers from the manual steering taking control and jamming your digits into the wing vent, cabs so hot that once you get down to low low on a hill you pull the throttle out, open the door, stand on the fuel tank and steer, knots on your head from the hydraulic seat that, if you hit it just right, will launch you into the headliner and being "fashionably late" cause you can't get over 54mph downhill with a tailwind?
I call that style with a capitol S!
It's a good thing we can discuss this in print as I'm a little hard of hearing with all the ringing in my ears.......

Scott that wasn't the reason to stand on the fuel tank in the wee hours of the morning but I've been there.
the other pleasant experience was an R model with air assist steering delivering bulk motor oils at strip job with frozen ruts. had to keep stopping so the air would build back up.

Worst one I ever drove was an Auto car with the little short auxiliary between the seats had a sharp ledge under back window that would do a number on yer elbow

I'd like to see most of younger Professional, CDL drivers of today run an old International V 190 series with a quadroplex, no brakes, no radio and no air*(conditioning too)

Many time had to rub the tires on the curb on the Kittanning bridge to get enough stopping power to keep from rear ending someone that stopped at an arrow as it went to yellow and back to green

Scott, but all that didn't matter then, 'cause you were young and a "driver". By style I mean "looks", and like a lot of others, I think a "dressed" west coast Mack LT was one of the best looking trucks of late 40's early 50's era (I know, before your time), but to each his/her own.........if you want to abuse your body, a "B" model is the way to go I suppose

The B was before my time too, I couldn't help it they lasted forever and there were a lot on the road back in the 70's here in PA.
I do have a soft spot in my heart (or is it my brain?) for the B Model.

Air conditioning? That was the vent you kicked open with your foot and the one above your head.

I never had to drag the sidewalls or had air assist steering but I did used to enjoy waiting till someone was walking past the old Road Boss before using the air start

White's and the air starter. Back before most of the interstate system was built and US 42 was the main road from Louisville to Cincinnati, OH, I dated a girl that lived across the road from a truck stop and restaurant that we spent a lot of time in. Most of the drivers that stopped there ran that route all the time, usually between Nashville and Cincinnati, up one day, back the next, so we knew most of them. One of those drivers that drove for Roadway passed us on a Louisville xway one night an hit that dang air starter as he got right beside us. Almost wrecked us both, him from laughing and me from being scared. If I remember correctly, I believe her side of the front seat got a little damp also........

I did used to enjoy waiting till someone was walking past the old Road Boss before using the air start

Air starters was used as recently as 5 years ago in UPS trucks I dunno now

Air assist steering was fine till you ran over frozen ruts and the constant sssitt,sssitt,sssitt, sound until you lost enough air that the parking brake button would pop out, and would lock up until air pressure built back up. Made the Tri axle drivers a bit grouchy if you were blocking the road.

That Road Boss I used to drive for Butler Petroleum If my recollection is correct ( only drove it far a week till they gave me a 4300 IH), was a cab over main cab, because you could see where the headlight buckets were supposed to be and the engine set inside grill housing. then they added the hood and fenders to make it a conventional cab.

If ya get a chance take a trip to the big reservoir I helped lay some sub base in it . the big trucks got thrown out when they put a small Black top tipple in there... should have see that operation when they were doing the grading as the dozers with cranes were holding up road graders driving around inside the rim of that big basin . At that point I spent about another 6 months hauling sub base for the Youngsville/Pittsfield by pass If ya want a leisurely walk...take the path out on "Jake's Rock" Take a camera !
