Mini-Tractor

Post by TractorDan »

We couldn’t resist this one! This is a tractor I have never heard of, but once I saw the picture I knew it was a must have tractor for the collection. "No tractor too small or yard too big to mow if you have the time!" It is a 5hp MOWETT MUSTANG, with a 22” blade, one gear forward, one gear backward. Any additional information would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Dan

If I remember correctly, you shim the deck to adjust cut height. I think they are a popular collector item, even over the pond.

It is a simple little tractor. Thanks for letting me know about shimming the mower deck to adjust the height. Not too many options with this little one. Funny thing, once the engine is started the blade is spinning, then you get on it. Not something you need to think much about until you actually want to sit on it. LOL. Any more pics of the smaller ones would be great to see.

Looks similar to one I talked my dad into buying in the early 70's, it was the cheapest priced one available, I think it was a Huffy. 5 hp, single forward/reverse solid tires. You moved shims on the engine shaft, on top of, or under the blade to adjust the height on it. I found a 3 speed gear box.. did a little pulley switching and it would outrun a mini trail 50.... :D

The other is a 3 speed 25" notice it has rubber tires and fenders!

Nice looking Rugg.
Funny mentioning changing the gear box...I was actually thinking how fun (okay dangerous) it would be to change the gearing and get some speed out of this mini. But braking was the second thought that came to mind. Ah just a detail.

My good tractor friend has 2 mustang little tractors and a few roof ranger tractors, and up here in northern Michigan those are nuts if you find one, they are super rare, I like the Mustangs though he's actually the guy that I bought my cubbie 127 from!!!
