Link navigation change...

When we click on an embedded link we are redirected from the forum page. Some forums open up a new tab so you don't lose your place where you were at on the forum. That way if you click through on some additional pages on the link, the forum is still open in the original tab.

This is minor, but I would like it, just a suggestion. Example: Here is the company I go to for tire chains and parts: http://www.tirechain.com/

Also, if I read a post if would be nice if it showed up as "already read" when I hit the back button. Right now you need to refresh the page to have it show as "already read".

Thanks, Tom

On most browsers you can right click the link and select open in a new tab.

Yeah, I do the right click, open in new tab, but sometimes I forget and have to wind my way back to the forum. Like I said, just a minor thing, but I like it when forums open the link in a new tab.

Tom,
per the external links opening in a new window, its been something ive wanted to fix for awhile... i am looking at a software mod that will do just that.

As far as the "read" posts showing as read when hitting the back button on your browser i dont think its possible in anyway. you need to requary the database to show the current read status and its not possible when hitting back on the browser. I will look into it but dont expect much there

Ok Did some reasearch on the read links not showing read on "back" of the browser... This actually is a feature built into the PHPBB software and does work properly.... some browsers simply ignore the command. I have found it works in IE 8 but not in google chrome... chrome simply ignores the command to refresh the page on back. I havent found a setting to remedy this. but i will look

Dave, Thanks. I am using Google Chrome, so that explains my back button issue.

For the links, new window or new tab, whichever is easier. Like I said, it is a minor thing, but would be nice.

Thanks, Tom
