Danny's new ride, kinda

Post by vince_o »

I have lost intrest in the super tractor and with the plow days coming up this fall I fealt that I needed to start Dannys new tractor. Its the 482 that Joe allen and I split. Joe needed a good eng for his, I dont like belt drives so he got the running gear and I got the rest. I had to part it, so Ill make him buy me lunch, LOL It will have a 124 rear with a comand 18 or 20 in it. He will still use the sears 3 pt for a few more years. He likes his rake, so do I.

Ok were on lunch break. We got the rear in all the tires on. I found that the brake rod dosnt line up, cause of the right angle gear box set up, but we took the brake lever out and we will get it bake in place after lunch. This has been the easyest one Ive ever taken out. I only hit my fingers twice :D Now I hope the clutch set up goes as easy!

One other thing, you folks that own the early ZForce zero turns will have to do this when your handles get stiff. Polish and use pleany of anti seize!

I did, to get it out, but then I cleaned it up real nice and painted it to put it back In. I also forgot that I need the piece to work the brake and clutch at the same time. Got intouch with the round guy for that. Also now Ill have to make a drive coupler for the eng to the fly wheel so I can bolt the 3 pin driver. Matt G is sending me some info on that. The rest of it should be a breeze, did I just say that

Ive never had Danny help me so much on any project before. He spent all last weekend in the shop with me and all day yesterday with me. Vince took advantage of it and stayed up at the house working with Kathy. I thin the summer off and Danny beating the crap out of him is taking its toll on him!

Well got my clutch driver from midwest yesterday so I was in cub mode today all day.

First off the eng is all the way back and the 1000 drive shaft set up Ray sent me didnt work as I planed, so I got in the fab mode and came up with this idea. I thought Id have to reinforce the hanger, but with the long one I got from Cathy at Mid west, cant even tell your pushing it in. Dosnt move it a bit. I think this is going to be a good one! I love working on these.

Leave the spacers in there.

The reason I made my clutch driver nearly 4.5" long was so that I didn't run into the problem you did. That way I wouldn't have to make a custom hanger bracket and stuff.

You're almost there now!

I thought I needed to leave them in. Now Im hoping that I wont have to cut the longer hanger as its forward a few inches. A few guys I know that are using them have had to trim them a bit.

Wiring harness build and a 3 can paint job and Im ready for the cover of the rolling stone!

Vince,
Another thing you can do with the throwout arm is to lower pin hole in the hanger and shorten the top. That will serve the same function as the longer arm without buying a new one.

Havent made much progress on Dannys tractor, but I got the dash from Jr and he wanted a pic of it when it was done. Has one crack in it and bondoed the top from the hood rubbing. I think it will look good. Going to start wiring it this weekend and paint the fenders and nose cone.

Its glued, but the gloss paint really brings it out. But dont worrie I have faith in Danny that he will break the whole thing with in the first year! :o

I still have visions of him running his 110 with a perfect hood threw the trees and Kathy screaming at him to be careful and then her telling me hes going to get hurt. All I could think about was DONT BREAK THE HOOD!!!!!!!!!!

Or the time the boys trades a 100 for a quad. Vince goe flyin around the big oak tree and straight into the dog kennel. He looks at me and says the dogs are ok dad dose this thing have reverse? Allens wife thought she got the better end of that trade till the 100 went down over the hill and crunched the door of the jeep!

Vince I have to agree with Randy of the cool stories.
Maybe we should have a space for topics like that.

Harriet told me one of her daughter now 48,... at about 5 years old Easter time, cute little girl, still in her new Easter dress

They had just bought two little ducklings for both daughters Well anyway they had them on the porch in a box with a lid (window screen)
Shortly after the kids went outside to play with the ducks the youngest was at the door yelling for momma to come quick! something wrong with her duck!! Harriet ran out just in time to see daughter hurrying as fast as she could towards the first mud puddle holding the duck by the neck, holding high in the air till she got to the puddle.
She gently set it down in the water (The duck just fell over) ... and said "See It cant swim"

Well the 482 lives and rides, and RIDES WELL!!!!!!!! Ive been riding it around all day, kida scary, no tunnel cover and no seat. Got the brakes adjusted up fine front end all lined up as best I could. Never found the tunnel cover, then it dawned on me, I never painted one! :banghead: Cant find the lights, :banghead: I know they are in a box some ware so i wont for get them, maybe I sold them, I dont know, LOL Dont have a seat that fits the bolt patterns, the other one was trash. So a little welding and some digging tomorrow, I may get it done. I will say I love the sound of the command, much btter than the mag.

So all I want for Christmas is a bigger shop, so I can find my junk!

Vince I have a 482 tunnel cover if you can't find your , there different than the other 82 tunnel covers , with the low gear lockout , you'll probably want to use a 582 tunnel cover since you changed out the rearend .
The 482's didn't have lights , just a blank screen , I may have one of those to...not sure ??
I see a lot of cub cadets while going down the tracks , its a shame I can't pull over and ask about them .
