Tow hook on Super

Post by drcjv »

For some reason I always thought a Super would look better with a tow hook on the front. So as I was getting ready for plow day I decided to throw one together. I do think it makes the super look better but it also worked very well as I used it to pull a few out at plow day. What do ya think?

Charles , It looks factory made ....nice .
I like the fact that you combined a tow hook with a protective front bumper .
Its good insurance from committing an expensive oops .....
I've made a few bumper/grill guards for a couple of my supers .
I see a lot of cub cadets while going down the tracks , its a shame I can't pull over and ask about them .

Looks great; might even look better if you shorten the angle iron.

The angle is how it attaches to the tractor.

I'm a little late to the party on this thread, but looks good Charles.

My only suggestion is to consider trimming the horizontal leg of the angle at 45* at both ends. It wouldn't affect the strength at all and would soften the look of the sharp ends. One less thing to catch your hand on when working in that area too.

The only other thing to mention is that you will never have the same amount of pulling force as you would pulling from the rear, but there are situations that a front hook-up is convenient for a light tow.
Nice craftsmanship, very clean work.

As I said from the begining I did this because I thought it would look good not so much to use although it workrd grat at PA plow day as I pulled several stuck tractors with it. I agree about the corners and planed from the begining to round just have not had time. The real use I think is going to be for a carry all that I plan to build.
