Just bought it !
No pics yet but check out the add.... salesman said the kohler 23 hp diesel in this thing is rare and runs great. He also said the cub cast iron rears r bullet proof! Cant wait to go get it. Sam....Thanks for your post. I was not sure of this either so i called him back. He seems very knowable...and trust worthy, he said he has been selling cubs for close to a year now and knows his stuff! I see u only have 49 posts so im not sure u know them as well as he does. Anyway he told me he filled the tank himself w diesel fuel.....it does smoke a lot but he said thats normal for the newer emission compliant engines...idk. I will get to the bottom of this tonight. Thanks again

as far as I know Kohler never made a diesel. I don't know much about the 3000 series (i'm trying to learn). I was working at a Kohler dealer when they where new but I believe that mower has the CH23 engine in it.
As for the others guys posting in this thread they are both moderators on another Cub Cadet only site. They both have post counts in the 1000's over there, I do not know them personally but would trust Sam's look up on the tractor data site.

Joe, Kohler does make a few diesels. We have a KD-400 on a pump. 10 HP. Single with pull and electric start.
Owner of an 1863, 2263 (1863 W 22hp engine!) 2084 and a 2 - 2284s.
