well now... ive gone after the oil leak. got the pto off without much trouble. found it has a bad bearing. then to find the oil seal has spun in the case. wondering if there is an upgraded seal for an M18 or just replace it? also the part # doesnt look like anything i see for replacement. NOK BE1059E? i can find a bearing for the pto however i gotta believe theres a less expensive cross over # ? what i really thought was neat was the way all the body panels came off so easy and quick. unlike a car where
EVERYTHING must come off to access something. its actually fun to work on! :D

after checking with all my auto parts guys. they couldnt match the seal#. turns out theres a cub cadet dealer 10 min from where im located! "nels tractor" great guy and very helpful. paid a little more than an ebay , but i like spending local. had the correct seal on his shelf. also bought some cub cadet paint. (wow! they dont give that stuff away). not goin for a showroom restore. just want it to look fresh. when i got this tractor and got it running i thought all was good. the more i work on it the more i see is wrong! gettin there though!

now before you guys boot me off the site, let me explain... the tractor didnt come with headlights or hardware. so when i had the grill housing off to change the oil seal. i painted the housing and grill, then found some inexpensive driving lights and stuck em in. i will find the correct lights, but for now...the rubbers are fuel tank sending unit gaskets, perfect fit. not sure whos worse.. the PO or me. ;)

Good job on the oil seal! I would not bother looking for the factory lights. I bet your new lights r way brighter than the factory candles! ;) If u like them.....maybe u should let us know what brand they r and how much. Thanks.

the lights i got from walmart. 18 bucks for the pair. only 3 1/2". why i used the rubber to take up the gap. also holds em in tight. dont know why the originals were removed. the "frames" are still there. just no bulbs or rubbers? and he left the wiring lay on the heat shield..cooked!

I get 150 for a plow, but mine are not repainted.... It looks correct for your cub the lift rod bend/length is the only concern but if it dosn't work you can make your own easy enough... Heck I made 4 before breakfast today!

i found a blade an hr closer and 1/2 the price of 200. no good picks of it and it came off an 1862. i dont know if that would fit or not. i see thats a newer tractor than an 1811.

just grab it, worst case is it has the newer undercharge and wrong lift rod. The rod is easy to make like i said earlier, and the mount should be easy to swap out with one from someone who has a few, but i think the mount would work either way!

The mount will fit but it might be lower than the "correct" mount. The 1862 is a cyclops with the taller front axle.

i plan to get this blade today or tomorrow. so i figured id better look at the brakes. (tractor wont hold when full brake applied.) i have a steep driveway. there is no more adjustment left on the rods so i pulled off the pads and see they are almost to the rivets. no big deal ill just get new ones right? NOPE. discontinued parts. how are you guys dealing with this? my plan was to reline them myself. i used shorter spacers and got the pads closer to the rotor for now. and can get adjustment now. but it wont be long before the rivets hit the rotor, and i dont want that!

You'll have to cut them to size, and glue them on.

thanks gary..man they got some of everything.
ok heres what i bought for a 100$ bill.
seemed to fit pretty well. heres my next question.
the way i see this mount is all the force will be put on those 2 small studs where it clicks into the front of the frame.
shouldnt the rear for this mount contact the cross bar?
didnt know it was a 54" blade either. little over kill for what im using it for.

Hey a 54".......u did good for $100 bucks! The undercarriage is probably off a slightly different model but its hard to say. I don't think there r too many ways to mess up the install on this? U can look for the right one...but in the meantime get a couple extension tabs welded or bolted on. Make them like 6" inches long with a notch for the tractor support bar.....hold up in place.....drill and bolt with two bolts per side. I think 3/8 bolts should do? Dave

Agreed $100 is a steel! I would say the blade alone is worth 150. Mounts etc is more! As for the mount it looks correct although I'm not sure why it doesn't go all the way back it needs to! I've seen where they don't and the front brakes off!!!

I see on partstree two different undercarriage for that blade. #377 for older style like 1811. So it looks like u have the right one cause the qa front mounts r straight up. Then a #316 for newer stuff that has a slight flare on the qa mounts. Either way I see some fab work getting u out of the woods here. Keep us posted.

well i dont know what it fit before, but i KNOW what it fits now!
decided to work on the front rather than the rear of the frame. cut off front hangers. went with 9/16" pins. (better fit than 1/2") fit everything together on the tractor. clamped in place and welded it up. basically moved front hangers about 1/2" forward. great fit! added a bar to the rear just for a little extra.
now i need to repaint it . "the misses" just told me she doesnt like the white. she wants it to match the cub white.

Michael - Very nice job there, making it right! Such a huge difference between something being almost there and something really being right. Now you won't have to worry about busting anything up, the load will be distributed like it should be.

thanks tom. i am happy with the way it turned out.
the only thing i want to do now is drill some holes for the front pins, add some washers to keep it centered.
theres a little side to side slop and if it goes too far one way or the other, the lower rockshaft arms interfere.
thats an easy fix. come on snow! think ill make some test runs today. just cuz. ;)

well im all plowed up and ready for snow. trouble is its 45* right now and rain on the way.
so i took the drive pulley off the mower deck. was wanting to ask if this was the correct sizes for the PTO to drive it.
or as tom stated earlier in a post. slower blade speed with these pulleys?

april 1st and didnt get to plow a flake of snow.
now i want to try something like this. i have a similar bank to mow here.
dont know how he did this though? will the charging system handle a 20+ amp load from a small winch?
or is he using the pto? hmmmmmmmm

That is sweet! Its probly some sort of electric winch. It's moving pretty fast but maybe he played w the pulley or gearing idk. Would not b hard to build at all on the front of a cub. Get like an old mule drive front bracket and build off of that. Get those plans sketched up....the grass is growing. Lol

I do see a lot of variables in this idea. Hill slope and smoothness..... Radius at the top of the hill.....trees.. Stuff like that. Sure would beat wacking that whole thing.
