Joey u really should start a new or a mod could move this thread to the CCC section because this looks like a new project that I would like to follow. U can try welding up the muffler....but I found the exact Kubota muffler on a boating web site for cheaper than the cub sites. I also picked up a couple "old" dealer stock ones on eBay for cheap...but they r very rare on eBay now. As for the grill, they r plentiful from cub salvage yards or again eBay. Just make sure the one u buy has the lower retaining tabs. I saw one last week sell on eBay that both tabs were broke off and it sold for like $45 plus shipping?? Crazy! I would like to see some pics of the 451..... I kinda have a "thing" for these big snow blowers   FYI u might want to look into the pullies on your PTO or blower to see if they have been changed cause that tractor calls for a 450 blower. I kinda doubt the tractor has changed cause then your 60" mower would not b running the right speed. Gear box's can also b changed....this is a whole big mess of a topic really. I know Tom S likes the topic. Ha ha. It's been a couple years but I think the 450 has 19 rear drive pulley turns to one turn of the big augers. Dave

SWEEEEEET!!!

Not as clean as it looks???? Looks awful clean to me for 26 years old! Nice find, man.

Joey - As Dave says, the 451 will not work properly on this machine assuming it has the correct (4.6" pto). I just posted an explanation of matching the correct blower to the right machine here: viewtopic.php?f=8&t=6684

Looks good, keep us updated! I moved the thread here where we would expect to find a 1772 topic.

Oh, and what is going on with that hood spear? It looks like it is on steroids! Maybe a 1772 should have a beefier hood ornament!

well i suppose its cleaner then others out there but the sad thing is me and this mower are the same age  , another reason i was attracted to it ,well all 1772's for that matter would be fun to see witch month it was made in

Ugh, I'm the same age as a 147, lol.

Don't let Tom bother you about that hood ornament. He was the first to notice the "D-Cup" taillights" on an 1872 that I have, so it's no surprise that he caught the hood ornament. I am nominating him as the "official inspector of freakishly oversized parts".

All kidding aside, he does have some really good info on Supers, and their attachments.

Gotta give dag the nod on the hood spear, he caught it first! Might be a market for a "Super Sized" hood spear. Joey could market these and make some coin!

Joey, don't let us bother you, we just like slapping each other around. Keep us posted on this great find.

Is there any way to remove the driveshaft without moving the engine forward? Got one heck of a vibration going on

Yes, you'll have to get in there where the coupling is at the engine. Not fun.

Also wondering where the hydro release is to move out of the way once driveshaft is out.

Joey - The hydro valves are auto-release. After 20 seconds or so of the engine being off it should roll freely. Just don't try to move it very far, no lubrication being pumped when not running (across the shop is fine, across town is not  ).

What do you guys think about my new exhaust!!!     thinking about cutting the last 18" off and clamping it on, thoughts??

currently waiting on parts to rebuild the drive line from engine to charge pump was able to order everything i need, new shaft and ends- the whole works new from a cub dealer, just trying to find a new fan for the shaft.

Joe - You're doing it right, it will pay off and you will have a nice running machine for many years to come.

As cool as a taller exhaust can be, I wouldn't add any weight hanging on that exhaust manifold that wasn't necessary. Perhaps a lighter smaller diameter extension, but the longer it is the more force the vibration will put on the rest of the exhaust.

Keep, the pics coming!

Joe - Here is my journey through a new Super with a busted adapter housing. Perhaps it will help you in some way...

viewtopic.php?f=8&t=5282&start=150

Whether you make braces as I and some others have done, or buy the XtremeMotorworks braces, I think the Supers just need the extra support they provide.

Did u get that new driveshaft from cub...and it was not drilled? That's disappointing! Do u have the new rear piece in hand or do u need to find one? I think people say a 3 pt hitch...or a cover plate on the rear of the frame also helps to protect against this happing again. Kinda " boxes" the frame and stops the wiggle.

Joe

I wouldn't worry about the broken mount on the adapter housing. Just bolt a set of the Xtreme SGT braces on and your good to go with out the mount.

Probably a little late now but you can also convert the drive shaft on that to the CV style used on the Cyclops tractors. Jeff in PA has the adapters and then all you need is a drive shaft from an 1863 or 1864.

wha.... pictures please

yeah i plan on getting a 3pt for this tractor in a couple months or so, would those stiffener plates from xmw be overkill or well worth it?

im sure the shaft is cub factory, i got it from a international dealer close to my home town that is also a cub cadet dealer, im thinking its a shaft for the clutch type style but im not sure

It would b easy for us to sit behind our computer and say "oh yes u need the braces ". I guess it really depends on your time and budget....and plans for this cub. It's easy for guys to just keep throwing money at these things...then in a couple years sell it cause u need money. Idk. As to what is better to protect against the rear breaking in the future, the rear plate stops the frame rails from moving in opposite directions... While the " ladder bars" help lock the rear into the frame and protect against rear roll. If I had to pick one....I vote box first then braces. Just my opinion. I know Tom and keith made some simple braces from flat stock....but the ones Sam designed from emw do look sweet. Good luck and have fun wrenching. U have a nice project going there.
