1863, whats one worth?
Howdy guys, been quite a long time since I've been around here. My father in law is selling his 1863 and is not sure what it is worth. I have not dealt too much with Cyclops machines and I am not sure what the going rate is on them right now. It's a 1994 model with 358 original hours on it. He is the second owner of the machine and has really not used it since he acquired it. It came from his fathers friend that no longer needed it anymore and I believe it sat out some or in a shed that drawn moisture as from the pics sent to me it appears to have some rust spots and some of the tins appear to have been repainted at one time. The deck has also obviously been painted at some point as well. It has a 42" deck and a 42" plow with it. Can anyone giv me a ballpark on what it might be worth? I am actually interested in it myself as a snowplow tractor and for plowdays. Any help would be great fella's. I've added the pics that my father in law sent me.

Hi Chad.....looks like that would make a great plow tractor. I don't think those a real big following as collector pieces.....but still a nice general machine. I know a guy who picked one up at auction last year for $600. But I see them more listed for around a thousand. So if they list them for $1000..... they might sell them for $7-800. The repaint kinda detracts from its value.......unless it's like a classic car type job. Let us know what u decide.

Locally that would be listed at 1300-1400.00 and probably sell at 1100-1200.00 Rugged machines. Repaint is common with them, MTD switched over to powder coating and didn't prep the tin as good as they should have, the edges get chipped or the surface gets scratched through and moisture gets under the powder and rusts.

Re: 1863, whats one worth?
Just my take here; deck is one of the least desirable decks. Deck repaint was sloppy, repainted the belt, wheels, etc., makes me wonder about the prep. Bad prep, bad paint. That much rust (although just cosmetic) would make me question the hours unless I really knew the history and/or trusted the previous owners.
But, even after all that negativity from me, it is still a desirable machine. Down here I would say that is $900 - $1000 asking and selling for $700 - $800. If the plastic is really fabulous, including no cracks in the grill down low where it attaches, you can add another $100 from me, but I've yet to see a Cyclops that isn't cracked. A better three blade deck like the fabulous 48"/54" ones would add a lot of value for me and get it closer to Steve's numbers.
If I were in your shoes I would buy it and enjoy the hunt for a better deck if the 42" deck didn't satisfy you. Enjoy getting it and post as you go!

Re: 1863, whats one worth?
Well I don't know what will happen at this point. I told him the information that dag posted the other day as I have no idea on their value cause I've never really looked for one myself. I will say I expected it to be a higher number personally, but again I don't know what they're bringing right now. I also told him I was interested and that I would buy it if he was willing to sell it to me for whatever he was thinking. He must not have been satisfied with those numbers because the response I got back was that he is having a yard sale on friday and is going to be asking a price that is above what I told him at the yard sale and that if it doesn't sell we can talk about it then. So I have no idea what will happen as of now. I have a feeling though that someone will buy it at the yard sale and I am going to miss out on it. We have paving going on at work this week so I can't take off to go to the yard sale either. I guess I'll know come saturday because he'll be at my house for lunch either way. Either way I don't need the deck because I have a Hustler zero turn. Thanks again for the help guys.

"Miss out"....... Chad.....i see a bunch of tractors listed on your signature, and with some of the ones I see listed.....u r not missing out. Let dad sell it at the yard sale. I would b surprised if guys r that hungry this late in the season to pay $1500. Not really playing games.....but I would tell Dad your not interested and let him sit on it for a while.....then get it right before winter

LOL!! I gotta say that most of the tractors in my signature are my dads. At least right now. They'll be mine someday. I only have the 73, 100 and 107 at the moment and I am thinking of getting rid of the 73 as it hasn't been started or moved in over 2 years.dag1450 wrote:"Miss out".......
