OOPS
So I'm out mowing the grass for I hope the last time (decks coming off and cab blower on regardless) and I hear this strange grinding crunch sound. HMM what was that. Look around and see black plastic in the grass. Looked familiar even after going through the deck... NOOOO The new cyclops grille I had installed !!!! Have to look tomorrow and see if I have a spare. If not I'll be posting for a grille later ....

Oh, man, that stinks! I'm guessing it hadn't popped in all the way, as those grill inserts generally clip in very securely.

That does suck. A guy I bought a tractor from had an extra 60" castor wheel....all chewed up. I said what happened....."

Well, I have 1 spare grille on the wall. Looked online, seems like $20-40 for a replacement IF they have them. Guess it's time to buy another parts tractor....
I've come close to grinding up a wheel before. The 49" deck I use likes to break off the shoulder bolts for the wheels. Doesn't happen anymore. I got sick of wearing down the plastic wheels so I modified some cast iron wheels to fit. They wear MUCH better! Those also have sealed bearings. I'm looking to make some new iron spindle housings as well.
