My next fun adventure, the 782 Mystery nut.

This is where we can discuss all the stuff made after IH's sale to MTD.

My next fun adventure, the 782 Mystery nut.

Post by A.W.Gonya »

Hold on to your hats folks, the next chapter of our thrilling adventure is just about to begin.

The backstory: Several years ago we built Mom a 782, CCCera, KT17/2 Got it from BigMike, who got it from Cubrick, who plowed with it at Indiana plow day at least a dozen years ago. We did a basic top end, changed the jugs, two new old stock pistons and new rings. Absolute rock sold tractor for the last 7-8 years.

Went to change the oil today, oil wasn't flowing out properly....not a happy feeling,... yup, something loose in the oil pan (Lower part of the block on a KT17/2)

Came out with a 1/4-20 ish flair nut, looks terrifyingly like it might be from a connecting rod. Got an Android compatible endoscope on the way.

Some days, you are the windshield.

Today I'm feeling a lot like a bug....

Coming back to this, on the 24th, I found the flair nut.

So I bought this for $12

Fed the camera up through the drain hole, took a little practice to get the hang of maneuvering the probe.
Found this on one rod,

Diddn't find it's buddy on the other.

Going to do a quick and dirty refresh on the KT17/2 that came with the 1872 and swap it into the 782 for now, then I will open this one and rebuild it for something else.

I need to make a flow chart showing where each of our Kohler twins have been used.
