Model 2084

I have a question about finding parts for my 2084. I have owned this tractor for 5-6 years and it has served me well. The old girl needs the plastic front end rebuilt. The previous owner obviously tried to repair all the broken hinge points but it is barley holding on. Are these parts, hood side panels available used ? I looked at new replacements but the prices are more than I want to spend right now. Other than the plastic this tractor and mowing deck do a great job and are in pretty good shape.

Gary - Glad to have you posting after being a member so long!

The grill (the entire front nose is considered the grill) is the key to the whole front end. Don't even consider a used one, they are always cracked. Buy a new grill assembly from Cub, that part is worth the extra coin. If you look up the part number for an early Cyclops, it will list the part number that includes the sealed beam headlights and the retainer rings, as it was an upgrade for the early cyclops that just had bare bulbs. If you don't want or need extra sealed beam headlights, then look up the grill for the late Cyclops, that will just be the bare grille without the headlights included.

For the hood and side panels, look in our vendor section for Ray Weaver. He bought out a dealer's supply of brand new side panels and hoods. Ray is a smart businessman and knows what they sell for new, so he will sells for less than a dealer, but isn't giving them away either.

There have been some inventive fixes for missing side panel pins and broken hood bosses, but there is no way of getting around the grill. No amount of glue or epoxy will make it right again. Buy one while you still can!

What Tom said. Also the pins on the side panels are important to help support the grill. These guys seem to have the best prices lately.

Thanks Tom, I shot Ray an email. His site did not come up via the link in the vendor section.

Gary - I should have mentioned... Ray is more miss than hit on email!

Call the phone he lists anytime during the day, this is what he does full time. You will probably reach him easy. He also may not return calls regularly, so call back if you miss him. Phone and email etiquette aside, Ray is straight up good-guy and won't do you wrong. He has gotten a few dollars from me over the years...
