Brought home a CC682.Made by Cub Cadet, Cleveland, Ohio. It is a one owner tractor that has never ever sat out. Only has 195 hours on it. Is the most hardest starting tractor I have ever been around. I have been around this one for17 years or so. Always has been a chore to get started. Seems to not be getting any gas. But once started runs like a champ. The air cleaner doesn't say Series II on it so it must be a series I KT17. Or is there a better way to tell which series of engine it would have.
Now the big question is do I keep it or service it and send it to my son so I can get my 1650 back.
I has a cast iron rear end and aluminum axle housings.

Sweet machine! Looks like it just needs a bath. I think the series 1 mostly had trouble on hills and lack of lubercation. Good luck and keep us posted!

Re: CC682
I thought all cc built ones had the series 2 but not 100%. What's the serial number? Maybe it was really early and got a series 1. I've had the little "valves" or whatever they are pop loose on several fuel pumps on those. They'll still run but lose prime and take forever to start because the fuel doesn't want to prime. It's easy to take the pump off, open it up, and look at those two round valves in there.

Kevin
I keep forgetting to get the serial number.
Will have to take a look at the fuel pump. Did consider putting an electric one on it.
I have another 782 that I gained from my Son-in-law when they moved to a house with a small yard. It is rough looking but starts almost instantly and runs great. It is a series II. I also have another one that smokes like a freight train but starts easily and looks great, also a series II.

Serial number on the 682 is
2050600U717152
I don't know where to find the serial number listings for the Cub Cadet Corporation so I don't know how early this one is.

Re: CC682
After the U, they started at 700,000 for mtd I believe. So that one's fairly early. I had a 482 once that was 701xxx or something. This part I don't remember but I think there's a serial number for the motor too if you're still trying to figure out series 1 or 2. It's on the fuel pump sheet metal cover right on top of the motor. Something like if it ends in 02, it's series 2. Something like 24002 model number. It's been several years and it's all from memory so sorry I can't be more precise.

Re: CC682
That is one beautiful 682. It would be hard decision for me also as to swap it to get your 1650 back. You've made a fantastic score find one with such low one owner hours on it. Congratulations1!!!
