982 yellow?

Post by cwcub »

I thought 982 were red. One listed local that "won't start" has tiller rear pto, blower scical bar mower and 50" deck it is yellow? $1000 Can I steal the rear pto tiller and such off of it for my 1872. Get running and sell as a mower is what I'm thinking?

Yes, all the attachments should go right on your 1872. Yellow 982's where sold by cub Cadet dealers, red by IH tractor dealers. It will be a MTD built machine with a aluminum rear.

I think that is a cool machine and I have nos decal kit for that tractor. Just as a precaution...."buyer beware". I don't think I would go close to a grand for a non runner. Best case is it needs a battery.....worst case it needs Engine, trans and rear. You never know untill u get it home and start digging. Condition does mean a lot on the chassis.... but to replace just the engine u are around $700-1000.

I'd be all over that for $1k. I just looked at the ad. It's kind of strange though. The frame tag looks like an IH tag and not a CCC one. Tractor has power steering but 982's didn't.

The 356 tiller alone is probably worth $500-$600 easy, rear pto is at least another$400 to $500 and then the cat 0 is worth $400 easy. Then you have the blower, don't know what that is worth....they never were popular her in Georgia  and he's throwing in a sickle mower too. I wish it were closer. Good luck, hope you get it.

It is gone. PS must have been an option or it was added? Would have been good as I already have 3 point with pto housing and a blower. Not sure about the Oman, good bad heard it both ways
