325 / 374 mower deck spindles

Post by Jeff in Pa »

With the help of a sample from another Cub Cadet enthusiast, I made up a mower deck spindle for the 325 and 374 decks.

Turned a piece of 4130 steel alloy

Plus drilled and tapped both ends, cut a 1/4" keyway and drilled a grease hole.

I also made the thick washers and have the blade retainer too.

I'll figure out pricing after I finish this set.

Nice! Kinda wish I needed one of those  I'm not sure I trust you to make the rockshaft support. Maybe we should find someone with a little more experience

 Even trying to hold a specific size on lathe built in 1942 is easier than some of the parts I made at work. The govt is mighty fussy with print tolerances whether they make sense or not

I have a full set done now

Definitly very nice work. I am currently in the middle of a complete resto of a 374 deck.... having 2 to work with trying to find enough good parts. From what i can see i find nothing major wrong with any of my 6 spindles. although the upper and lower bearing cups seem to be the piece that takes the most beating. out of 12 i might have 7 or 8 good ones.!
