Starting loader project on 2072
Hey all, i started the 2072 loader project this week. Not a normal mounting system due to several attachments. here are some pictures.

Looks great Eric! What brand loader?
127, 1650, 1572, 1872, 2072 . A mower, blower and blade for each.

Mighty nice fab-work there, Eric!
Is that a Johnson loader?
You might find yerself needed a front axle like mine...

progress on loader
I spent last night finishing the station support system and today I fabbed up the pump mount. The loader is a PF Engineering loader. it was built by a young man as a college welding project and originally set up for a cc100. Jim Land built this in the 90's and after getting graded on it, i aquired it from him.
thanks for the comments all. I have been planning to do this for 15 years and was going to go on my 147, then when it came down to actually getting it started, i decided to put it on the 2072 since it is runnuing, using cub.
Dave, eventually, i had planned on custom building a front end similar to loader mutts. push-push!thanks for the comments all. I haven't crossed the bridge on where i will mount a reservoir yet. original is the station pictured in the side view. there is no room for the hydraulic filter in it's original position, which was piped to the stantion.

Good so far!
Make a stout bash-plate to protect that pump... in front, and below... because you'll NEED it
Is that pump rated for an overhanging load, or is it fitted to an overhung load adapter? most hydraulic pumps don't take side-load forces of a belt... if not, consider going to a toothed-belt drive and some large diameter sheaves, so you don't need belt tension in order to transmit power.

Re: Starting loader project on 2072
Dave, the guy that built the loader, Jim Land, painted the pump along with the tag on it so i don't even know what the pump brand is. therefore i cannot check the specs. i looked at running the pump from some other means via behind the hydro pump, but i have rear pto driven there and the driveshaft isn't a good option either, no room without some major reconstruction and extreme customization. as for right now i have to run it off the front pto to get it working, then maybe i will change it to an adapter spindle with some type of lovejoy coupler to drive the pump. i have a feeling this pump is pretty small and Jim got this one as cheap as possible to get the grade. I have the PF Engineering plans. i will look and see if he used the recommended pump.

Looks good Eric.
Any plans to upgrade front spindles and bearings?

Re: Starting loader project on 2072
cholloway, yes, eventually i will build a heavier front end. i actually have a heavy-duty boat trailer axle to steel the spindles and hubs off of. right now i am pondering building a new reservoir. because of the mounting placement i had to employ for the stantions, everything is in the way of piping the lines. original tank IS one of the stantions. i am thinking that a combo bumper-reservoir is going to materialize. i have some 4.5"x4.5" square tube steel with 1/4" walls. all depends on clearance in the front between it and the bucket. tomorrow will tell the tale. pole barn was an oven tonight and way to humid for my taste.

Re: Starting loader project on 2072
hey all, after 3 hose replacements and 2 fitting failures, the loader is working. i mounted the home-built reservoir on the right stantion and incorporated the control valves on part of the mounting bracket. the reservoir vent i made out of a 1-1/4 inch pipe coupling and plug. i drilled a 3/16 inch hole in the plug and used a circular cut-out from a scotchbrite pad as a vent filter. i must have had this thing apart 25 times while fabricating parts, drilling and tapping holes, and test fitting brackets and fittings. still have to make a bash plate and skid bottom to protect the pump and a rear weight bracket. i took it out and played with it for awhile and i'm happy with the outcome. i have to replace a bad pipe nipple right at the pump, but that will come tomorrow. the only off-the-shelf hydraulic hose i could find was 48inches long, so i have to tie it up when i get the chance

Re: Starting loader project on 2072
Dag, it wasn't made specifically for a 100. it is one model fits all, with modifications of course for each tractor. if you look up PF Engineerings web site, you'll see the same loader on just about every brand of garden tractor and even some sub-compacts. i have the complete set of plans that you can order. i made some modifications and corrected some overlooked issues tonight so i didn't get to the bash and bomb plate for the front end, but it will come. supposed to be 92 degrees here tomorrow in Ohio with a feels like temp of 95 to 97, so i may not work on it tomorrow night after supper. the pole barn is just a big oven!

Re: Starting loader project on 2072
hey cubbers, in the last couple of days i fabbed up the bash and skid plate to protect the pump, and built an extention frame for the weights that came with the loader. the bash plate is 1/4 inch c-channel with a rectangular tube bumper and the skid plate is 3/16 inch plate, which is what i had laying around. it is pretty stout the way it is mounted underneath at the quick attach yokes. the concrete weights sit behind the cat 0 lift so it is free to move the belly grader blade. here are some pics. after i play with it awhile i tear everything down and paint. i just picked a new drive cup because i detect some wobble in the drive shaft, so that will be next on the list.
