Hydro controls

Anyone ever look at the idea of replacing the older hydro controls used with the newer design used on the later Cyclops machines. I repaired the worn out control on the 2284 and tightened up all the pieces and the newer design still seems to be smoother and more predictable. I just tore down anther 1641 and have the hydro laying on the floor and wondered if the linkage might interchange. Haven't really looked yet but maybe someone else has?
