kubota d600-640 block heater installation

Post by JoeK »

Happy Holidays everyone

Been putting this project off for a while but now i need to get my diesel ready to move snow.
My main snow moving machine is my 2086 with a 451 blower. Unfortunately my 2086 is down for some repairs, after 4 years of random miss fire's, it's igniter module bit the dust. While i wait for a new one to show up i best have a back up just in case we get some snow.

After installing a block heater in my 1772 and i figured id take some pictures of my project and post them here.
The procedure is the same for both d600 and d640 engines.
and so it begins

using a 1/4&quot; ratchet wrench and 5/16 socket, i carefully pulled the block heater into its home. only tapping with a hammer when needed. <br />Note- this is a very tight fit and a high likely hood of cutting the oring, lubricate the hole and oring with some coolant before installing.

you will need to cut the plate to allow room for the heater and its cord. 1.5&quot; hole to allow enough room

Joe,

Any reason not mounting the block heater on the side of cylinder block?

Thanks, Bob G.

Sorry for the long delay in replaying to your question, there is a small frost plug on the side of the engine but its unlikely anyone makes a element heater that size, if it's even a water galley. i have also seen on this site and in my work a re circulation type heater and they also work very well, just add inline to the lower radiator hose.
