OK I need 129 wiring help please
Today ol Hog Hunter and I put an eng in a 129 that I had layin around and we have a problem. As soon as we hook up the batt is starts to turn over.
We tested the celonid, switch all work as they should. The V/R was missing so I had a new one on the shelf and Randy thinks we have it wired wrong. I think were right, but I dont do wiring well. Even if I unplug the wiring from the switch it still turns over.
from top to bottom
F
B
L
Im guessing ground on the back.

Don't use the L terminal, the one on the bottom is the G terminal.
F=Field
B=battery
L=Load-not used
G=Gen-on the bottom.
I went through this on mine.
They made at least 3 different types.
One mine the G is on the back like this. If you look you can see the top term at the bottom of the picture isn't hooked to anything, that is the L term.

Actually i beleive the bottom one on those regs is the Gen terminal or G as the diagram shows which should be the blue wire... the yellow is the field from connect to F and the other is the batt.... dont use the L terminal thats for lights or load... only tractor that uses it is the original.

Vince, look here http://www.cubcadetman.com/content/inde ... ut=default and see if that helps. It's been a while, but the as I recall, the B is the battery connection, the F is the field connection and L is for something like lights -- don't use it. That terminal on the back should be the G (generator) terminal. The G, B and F are all different connections.

Paul
That loos like the missing link. Ill run my G wire to the back.
Hopefully this will solve the problem, I hate wiring!

I think your VR cutout coil is stuck and that puts 12 V right to the S/G. If you ever look inside the L type VR you will see that the L ams B are connected internally The "O" runs the B wire through the switch and the lights are connected to the L and when the key is off your lights are off all so and all the others the B on the VR is direct from the hot wire on the solenoid . I had a headlight on on my 73 connected to the B and it would only be on when its running and the cut out coil was actuated..

Re: OK I need 129 wiring help please
That VR is used on the Original and the 70/100. On them, the "L" terminal supplies power to the ignition switch. On the "O" power for the lights comes from the "L" term on the VR. On the 70/100, power for the lights comes from the ignition switch junction. In Vinces case, if the VR is good and the correct wire is connected to the B(bat), F(Fld), and G(gen) and nothing connected to the "L" term, the VR should work.
May you always have as many landings as you do takeoff's.........

Ol hog hunter is happy with his new 129. Looks like we saved another one from the scrap yard.
