CC 106 axle seal
I am looking at a CC 106 that is in good shape and lots of new parts. The only thing wrong with it is the po of the person that has it now filled the transmission with 80-90 weight gear oil were the shifter lever is, and they filled it right to the top. As a result, the left axle seal is pushed out and leaking. I have kind of looked into it and i think i should have to take the C-clip out that hold the axle in and pull that axle out of the transmission. Is this all i have to do or is there more? Also are those seals expensive or hard to replace? thanks for the help in advance

Re: CC 106 axle seal
That's all you have to do. The seals are about $5 each from CC and are easy to replace.

A 106 should have external brakes so you'll have to remove the brake caliper too.
CR part # is 9878 and should be available from NAPA.

Re: CC 106 axle seal
As a general rule I replace those seals on every CC I plan on keeping or selling. I am currently replacing the two on a couple of my "Originals" (a different location from the other models). The way I look at it, they are old and made of rubber so why take a chance. Plus as stated prior to this reply they are easy to do (even the "O" models) and not that expensive. Every CC deserves a little TLC

Mike L, that is very true. its not something that really think about unless its leaking.

Was just working on the 1650 and noticed the right seal is leaking on it also.
I guess it may be the time of year.

It must be the season. I just changed them on my 782 last week.bud horn wrote:Was just working on the 1650 and noticed the right seal is leaking on it also.

Re: CC 106 axle seal
Is there a part number from napa on the rear for the 1872? Im keeping it and they dont leak, but the one between the pump and rear dose so I may as well do them all while Im there.

Re: CC 106 axle seal
Vince, I'm pretty sure the axle seal number for an 1872 is the same as the one for the IH built tractors, so the number posted above should work.
