NUsed Adapter Housing and Support Brackets
Finally joined, been reading for a long time. Thanks Tom Scott for all the information on the Cinderella Story post. I had a broken adapter housing in my 2182 and while fixing that plugged the three holes and added the drain holes for the axle tubes as you did in your post. Also made up some brackets like the ones you made so hopefully I don't have to do this again Got it all back together and running again.

Re: NUsed Adapter Housing and Support Brackets
Ah, my good friend Keith is no longer a lurker! Looks like he gave me the option of not admitting that I know him...
I cant give Keith just the regular "Welcome Aboard", as he is a good friend from way back. He's been around Cubs his whole life. Most importantly (to me) he is one of the few people I really enjoy turning a wrench with. He even seems to put up with me pretty good when we work together.
He's even got a Kwik-Way loader on that 2086; I believe he bought one of the last ones Kwik-Way made for the Supers. Feel free to badger the crap out of him for more posts and pics!

Welcome Keith! Looks like a good repair. Sorry u have had to put up with Tom for some of your life.....Im sure he bullies u around as he does us! If u r ever one on one with him and he pulls out his.....chart on pto speeds and velocity, let us know....He has a habit of getting very technical with people. We r working on this
I look forward to some more pics of your tractors. Dave

Re: NUsed Adapter Housing and Support Brackets
Welcome, Keith.
Looks like a nice repair. I am a big fan of the cyclops supers, and I would love to see yours with the loader on. Tom really thinks out his repairs and modifications, and I am always thankful for his write ups, so I think you are in good company.
Now for the sarcasm....
Tom, is there a flow chart or graph that you could post that represents how long you have known him vs. how many projects you have done together in comparison to the amount of cold frosty ones that it takes to get said projects done? Just wondering..I think I''m going through visual aid withdrawl.

Ask Tom to tell you who showed him about the drain holes and the brackets. Take a look at the Xtreme web site and check out the SGT brackets that I designed. Tom just didn't want to spend the $$ for them. Rant over.

Sam, you absolutely have the very best $130 brackets out there, but I think I came up with the very best nearly free brackets out there!

Re: NUsed Adapter Housing and Support Brackets
Steve - You take a perfectly acceptable abbreviation for transmission (tranny), ruin good tractor thoughts with the new bad definition of a "tranny", and I'm the the guy that "just aint right"? Stop! Your'e scaring not only the women and children, but the grown men as well!
Note to self... Don't mess with Steve; he has spent far too long in his dungeon with every tractor manual ever published. He will stop at nothing to win...
Keith's 2182 repair made for a pretty good Cub spring for us; made for a field trip to Ray Weaver's to get a new adapter housing and he even splurged for a replacement engine for his 149 while we were there. One of the few times I didn't spend any money at Ray's!

... and a new set of rubber foot rests for the 2182 which cleaned up quite nice. The engine worked great, just needed a new pto bearing and it was good to go.

Who Meee.. I'm a harmless little fuzzball. Well, most of the time.... OK some of the time....
As for manuals... Well I do have a few. Between the tractors and auto stuff, close to 6 terabytes. One thing I really like with the electronic versions is that if someone has a shortcut method or I want to add part numbers it's as simple as a couple mouse clicks, much easier than sticky notes or writing it down.

Keith's I'm getting ready to mount a Habin blade on the front of my 2086. It is a later model, after 1991 . When I purchased it the rear mounting brackets were not included. On your image it looks like you have the brackets that I need. Are they factory, after market,or homemade? Any info help and demension would be great.
Thanks Dave

Re: NUsed Adapter Housing and Support Brackets
Dave,
These were actually on the tractor when I bought them, unfortunately there was no blade that came with it. I do believe they are the haban brackets though. Below are the dimensions. The other holes all line up with the frame.

Here are the dimensions I copied from my 2182 haban brackets. I remade mine out of .210 stainless and they fit and work well.

Re: NUsed Adapter Housing and Support Brackets
The brackets are for a Habin 401 front blade. I am in the process of mounting one on a 2086. There are two types of rear mounts for the blade. One triangular shaped for pre 1991 tractors and the one Kieths and Tim show in their posts.I don,t have any pictures but parts list show the difference. Hope I helped

Re: NUsed Adapter Housing and Support Brackets
The brackets are for the rear mounts for a haban blade. I see I also left one dimension out. The spacing is 3.5 inches from the top side of the bracket to the .665 hole on the bottom right side. EDIT The drawing a few posts up have been updated.

Re: NUsed Adapter Housing and Support Brackets
Worked on the Haban 401 blade that I bought this spring. I'm going to put it on a CCC 2086. I put it under the tractor frame and everything looks like it is going to fit correctly, thanks to PGH steelworker for his help with the rear mounting brackets. I have two lift adapters shown below. Which one is the correct one for the snow blade? The longer one slides on the rock shaft okay, but the shortest one hits the foot rest mounting. I could trim the mounting a little but didn't want to do that.

Re: NUsed Adapter Housing and Support Brackets
David - The long one is for the Supers for both the dozer blade and blower. The short one I believe is for a regular GT dozer blade, not for anything on your Super.

Re: NUsed Adapter Housing and Support Brackets
Neither one is "correct" for the 401 Haban blade. The 401 was used originally on the older 82 series supers that have a rockshaft that extends outside the tractor. Where yours has the shaft with 2 flats where these arms attach the 82 series had a flat plate with a pin on it.
This is what they looked like. The lift tube attaches to the pin sticking out at the far right. On your tractor you don't have that pin. I think the blower/blade arm on the right should work but you might need to watch the lift height on the blade.
Here is the manual for that blade if you don't have it.

Re: NUsed Adapter Housing and Support Brackets
Steve - I have to respectfully disagree with you here...
I'm not aware of a model number change for the Haban blade during its run for the Supers. Partstree shows that for even the final run of Supers the 401 was still the correct number for the Haban blade.
The later Cyclops Supers used the bolt on arm as shown by the larger one in David's picture, and places the pin in the same location as the 82 series rockshaft plate. The longer arm pictured is what replaced the rockshaft welded on plate arrangement you pictured, and is the correct part.
I'm not trying to be nit-picky, I just don't want anyone to be mislead; the later Cyclops Supers used the long accessory arm shown for either front mounted attachment (blade or blower). The Haban blade itself also has an adjustment bolt that easily allows adjusting the height raised.

Re: NUsed Adapter Housing and Support Brackets
No need to say your sorry. What I meant was that the 401 was built for the older tractors and used different parts to attach to them. The arm should work but they are longer than the old lift arm. At least the ones I've seen are 1" or so longer. No big deal though.

Re: NUsed Adapter Housing and Support Brackets
Steve - You probably have me on the lift arm length, as I haven't actually measured them.
My point was that although the 401 was designed for the earlier Supers, it is still considered a "correct" attachment for all Supers and the long arm is the correct arm to operate it with on the later Cyclops Supers with the redesigned rockshaft. If the arm is longer I guess they did that to provide more blower/blade lift.
David - Do check the lift height for any front attachment as Steve says, as you can have both blowers and blades set to lift too high on any Super. I have found that I have to be more particular with the blowers as I like all the lift I can get but the blower pulley/guard can easily contact the grill if set to lift too high. Especially not good with the plastic grill...

Re: NUsed Adapter Housing and Support Brackets
I have four of these setting around and on my supers and they are all the same size, with the exception of the one I had made by a friend at work to replace one that I broke. Here is a drawing of mine. I have changed some sizes due to making it heavier duty or (harder to break).
