This is where we can discuss all the stuff made after IH's sale to MTD.

Was there a plow made?

Post by TAFidler79 »

Curious. I inherited a 1420 from my father in law and I’m wondering if it ever had a plow available for attachment? Or if another models plow crosses over to it. It’s the 38” mower deck model.

Model#- 139-252-100
Serial#- 000149676

Thanks in advance for your help.

Welcome to the site Tom. Congrats on the new mower. I personally am not familiar with the 1420... but I did a quick parts lookup and they show a snow blade for your model.
Google "Cub cadet part look up"....and pick a site and follow the steps. Once you get to your tractor...there will be a folder that says "attachments"
I like the site cubcadetpartsandmore.com
127, 1650, 1572, 1872, 2072 . A mower, blower and blade for each.

Thank you and of course no availability for blow blade on parts sites. I may have found some used ones but how do I determine if mine has the narrow frame or wide frame?

Yours is a lawn tractor, it’s different yet! The sub-frame is about 6’ long and ties to the rear drawbar. The length is tube steel, no A-frame, it’s more of a box. Sorry I don’t have any pictures, I don’t have one to take pictures of either. I normally take the blade off the sub-frame and scrap the sub-frame. Maybe ray?

ok new issue, mowing yesterday, the pto stopped randomly except I thought it did. I got down and looked and the pto was still spinning. the idler spring on the deck was disconnected, and the belt kicked. I tried hooking the spring back to a post under the right side pulley cover where I assumed it went as I couldn't find another attachment for it. mowed about another 20 feet and it kicked again. I have looked at both my owners manual and my service manual and it doesn't give a clear diagram of where the spring attaches to. When I do attach it to the post that I assume it goes to the belt is really loose. The spring does not appear to be broken or stretched and the belt is not broken although it could be stretch but I'm not sure if I even have the spring in the right place. Id take a pic but working with the deck on the mower its hard enough to see what I doing. My question is has anyone else encountered this and is there another connection location for the spring or is the belt worn and too loose which causes the spring not to hold on its own tension. I probably should have made a new thread for this as well. Model 1420 139-252-100 38" deck and I believe its the 441 as it closely matches the manual picture. Please help Id like to have it working again before next mowing. Thanks

I just picked up a parts 1420 with Plow/deck. I’ll get you pictures of both tonight and send a pm about the plow.

I couldn’t get a picture due to its location, heck I couldn’t even see it! The idler is hooked under the right side spindle bolt.

Ok that’s where I hooked it to. Wasn’t sure if that was the right spot. I also bent the hook in a little as well as it seemed a little too open. Are you selling the plow and deck?
