Newbie with recently acquired 147 and need for a mechanic

Hello members,

I am new to this forum, and as a new old Cadet owner, I'm happy to be here. I just posted on the Shooting the Breeze forum describing my recently developed mechanical problem.

Anyway, my main question is does anyone know of any mechanics in the greater Toledo area who works on old lawn tractors? I have to find somebody who does this kind of work, because I am no mechanic. I do intend to do some of the maintenance on my 147, however, for mechanical issues that crop up I will almost certainly need a guy!

Welcome! - Ditto to BM, I replied in your main thread. And, btw, the 147 is a true "Garden Tractor", not just a lawn tractor!

And yes, the difference between a 'lawn tractor' and a Garden Tractor:

Lawn tractors are mowers that are vaguely shaped like tractors, and are ridden by people who don't like to walk-behind.

Garden Tractors are intended to actually 'do' work, and one of those things, if you so choose, will be to carry and power a mower deck...

But a Garden Tractor is designed to utilize "Ground Engaging Implements"...

Plows... disk harrows.... rippers, spike harrows... potato hillers... planters... smoothing drags, push blades, scrapers, box blades, rollers...

And for some really sick-minded guys... backhoes, front end loaders...

In other words, they're naturally heavy, and designed to develop some serious pulling effort... so you can confidently put on ag-tread tires, fill them with ballast fluid, add iron weights, put a hitch on the back, hook up a boat or RV trailer, and move it from the driveway to the backyard, or out to the street... and be just fine...

Just don't do what I do, and you'll never break it...
