Re: Winter Snow and Storm Pics
Well now that the grass is growing I guess I need to put one of the decks on. We ended up getting 2 "major storms" One was actually pretty good we ended up with about 14 inches of light fluff, on top of 5" of MUD. Used the walk behind because the second the blower on the tractor cleared the snow the front wheels sank! Only got the walk behind stuck 8 times! Cleared to both doors, around the parking pad and decided God could take care of the rest. Next day after the storm, it got up to 40 then 50 and in 3 days the snow was gone, and the mud was even worse!! Got another 4 inches of heavy wet crap about 2 weeks later and it was mostly gone in a couple days. The local snowmobile club actually got to complete 1 run up to the bowling alley, then they took all the trail signs down. Most of the clubs only had a week of open trails.
Now I just need the ambition to get the other tractor back together. Pulled it apart to track down some leaks. Gave it a good cleaning and got most of them. Trying to decide if I want to replace the rubber fuel lines with stainless or NiCopp and tidy up the rats nest of wiring the previous owner left me...

Re: Winter Snow and Storm Pics
Hi Steve, I hope you've been well, apart from the snow/mud fest! Some pics of that carnage would have been good here!
I've used Copper-Nickel for brake line quite extensively, it's the only way to go. So nice to work with, bends and flares easily and no corrosion worries. Stainless is hard and difficult. The Copper-Nickel will outlast all of us, it's great stuff. I wish all cars used it for factory brake line versus the steel that always rusts away.

Re: Winter Snow and Storm Pics
I sure hope that it does not snow any more this season. I took off my Winter tires and wheels off the 102 and mounted on the Ag tires in getting ready for spreading around the new stone. I'm trying not to snap any more axles, and those two link chains and 156 pounds of wheel weights will do it.
This 3/4 stone spreads around nicely. I should have an ample supply of stone.
It started to drizzle and I called it quits for now. Tomorrow is supposed to be a nicer day.

Look Tom...Ken made a nice level pad for your pop-up. Your right next to the woods out of kens way, that way you can stay as long as you like.

Dag has a great idea there… next time my wife wants a weekend away, I’m coming up! What’s your address again?

Re: Winter Snow and Storm Pics
I got rid of the pop-up years ago, now have a larger travel trailer. I don't see full hook-ups, so I'll have to pass! I'm less keen on boondocking, I like comfort! Lol
Ken, your driveway is always star of the show for the winter thread, it's welcome at anytime, no chewing out!
I think Ken just got the additional 15 tons because it was so satisfying spreading out the first load. He's just looking for more seat time!

I'll go first.
Nothing serious here. Yet.
But the trip down from the Canadian border was quite breathtaking.

......youll be glad to know I strapped my helmet on before I went out to catch snow flakes with my tongue this morning. Only had a few flurries so i was running around like a mad man. The frozen flag pole was very temping...but i remember the last time, I couldn't taste food for weeks after that.

Re: Winter Snow and Storm Pics
Sounds like my area, north of me got 2 feet south got over a foot, the protected valley I'm in got enough that if I lay the shovel down and kick the snow over it from a 10 foot radius, I can almost cover it!

Re: Winter Snow and Storm Pics
Our first real storm of the season was a routine cleanup and I parked both machines in a location close for me to get at them. That plan it seems did not fare so well. My plow guy came in right after the second big storm exactly how he was supposed to. There have been a couple others since then.
That has left them pretty probably good and socked in for the rest of the Winter. All that formerly white powder gas solidified into concrete last night and those tarps are pulled down and frozen to the ground too. There never was the typical January thaw that is common to see around here.
But I will say the Cubs are no match for a 1 and 1/2 ton with a V plow and a loaded spreader fitted in the bed.
Maybe I can fetch them out later. It's nice to have the blade tractor for cleanup work.

Re: Winter Snow and Storm Pics
Damn the torpedoes full speed ahead that little parts mutt of a tractor put his big boy booties on and smashed clean through that 3 by 6 foot ice wall one and done even with the blade frozen to the ground. I figured that it was at least worth a try. With another foot predicted for Sunday it was now or never.
People are heading up here to ski and the roads look like Plainfield New Jersey on a Friday afternoon. If you don't have a room booked by now don't come here.
Reminder to self, stay the Hell home until late Tuesday at least.
Too good of a machine not to have around for February, March, and April really. I'm impressed the way it just balls out had at it.
I'm not all that concerned with the thrower, this is this one that makes things happen.
Getting the cover off was an issue of itself, there was one spot where it had badly frozen to the ground, some kettle water took care of that. Lucky for me that it was at a spot just behind the right rear wheel where I could pull forward and take it away later.
