Ohio Plow day 11. 2015

Just to let everyone know, and gather opinions just in case.

This year we are moving Ohio Plow Day to July 31st/August 1st. This is also the weekend of the big Northwest Ohio Antique Machinery show/flea market in nearby Findlay Ohio.

We are all tired of fighting the cold weather. Since we have a wheat field this year we decided to move the event to earlier in the year.

Hopefully we will have good plowing conditions.

The Northwest Ohio Antique Machinery show/flea market is always a great show and plowing should be a good time too.

Have no issue with the date being changed. How big is the field and will the wheat stubble be mowed off?

About 13 acres as usual, I'm going to try and get a bar mower or a bushog and have the field pretty low.

I plan on being there, but will be bringing a John Deere 214. Plow day is only a mile down the road from my farm.

The wheat is about to come off and pre-plow day preperations are in full swing.

Anyone have a address? of where this is going o be? do you have to enter? ive never done a plow day hopefully someone can help me out there.....

I'm not sure of an address......I just get to West Independence and follow the smell of Hy-Tran . Seriously if you Google West Independence you will see county rd 23 crossing Ohio 224, go south on CR 23 1/2 mile and look for the barn on the east side of the road just after the S curve.......it's really that simple.
The only entrance would be to sign a liability waiver.
You betcha you can get help......all kinds of help. If you are not sure where to start just ask to see AW, Dale Merkle, Big Mike, Jess.......any of the usual suspects and we will help you get started.

Mike nailed it, just follow County Road 23 South out of West Independence. You can't miss it. There will be a big sign at the bottom of the driveway.

Aaron , I hesitate to ask this but , is this rain or shine ( date set in stone ) . I know its almost 3 weeks away but its rained here everyday for the last two weeks , and as I'm typing this we are under a severe storm warning .

We have not decided just yet. The rain here has been severe, it's definitely not a normal July. I have to admit I never expected bad weather to be a factor when I set the date for the middle of summer.

If the consensus is to have a rain date for the next weekend, I'm not against it.

The good news is, that this area is now seeing it's first dry spell (5-7 days) in about 3 months. I am literally about a mile away from Gonya's farm, so I will be there weather permitting.

Chris , that's good news about the dryer weather , when I talked to AW about a week ago they were talking about building an Ark .
I'll be there rain or shine , and for my 982nd post here's a picture of my 982 at last years Ohio plow day . It won't make it this year , but I'll still have two red ones there .

And there is the hole, believe it or not we have the dirt, just have no had the proper combination of dry weather/ contractor available to deliver it.

I want to thank the Gonya family for another great time at plow day . We had beautiful weather for the first time in recent years .
Good food + Friends + Great weather = FUN .

I don't know if attendee's know how much preparation goes into plow days , but there's a lot .
Painting , Mowing , porta potty rental , food preparation , etc . A lot of planning goes into one , and I know the Gonya's and Dale Merkle cross their fingers for nice weather . I think they hit a homerun this year .

And sometime the pre plowday preparations turn into a good cub day .

I know it caught some folks off guard about the timing but i was a beautiful day and the plowing was great.
It was wonderful as always to see Lena, Mark, AW, Lisa and Dale.....Thank you for all your hard work and the warm welcome always given.

I wonder how long it will be until Merk has a loader?
